System Photos!

That is total dedication to a cause. Nice.

An iPhone 11 Pro ultra wide lens photo of my 10’ ceiling, showing diaphragmatic bass absorbers in the area directly above the loudspeakers, and P13 quadratic diffusors towards the listening area. The steel lattice frame, together with the twenty 30” x 30” modules, weigh over 700 kgs.

That goes definitely into the upper realm of acoustics for 2 channel reproduction. I don’t know(limited mind you) of any recording studio that has that much effort in to making music.
Congrats and enjoy in good health!

It all begins with the AC power (three-phase 230V via dedicated lines to the Furutech NCF duplex receptacles feeding the two PS Audio P20s), and the room’s acoustics! :+1:t2:

Hey John, would you happen to have a photo or 3 of your completed space with electronics? I’m sure there would be a lot of interested folk here including myself.
Thanks!

This photo is from a year ago; the previous ones were from nearly four years ago. While the main components are mostly the same, a lot of incremental tweaks were made, such as: subscription to TIDAL streaming since 2019; signal and speaker cables are now Iconoclast; three SOtM components to manage network and USB data have been added; the two USB cables are now Intona Ultimates, and last but not least, the digital input modules to the MSB DAC are now the ProUSB and ProISL optical units. I’ve been delighted with the upgrades thus far - next in line is perhaps a MSB Technology disc transport…

Wow!

Beautiful set up!

What is installed to the sides of the front wall diffusers (running from floor to ceiling) that looks to be covered in black cloth?

Thanks in advance.

Oh My! Yup definitely in the upper echelon! Thanks for sharing. Love to see more.

Those are passive activate-carbon-filled diaphragmatic bass absorption devices, tuned to have maximum absorption at 40-80Hz. Physical constraints limited installation of wider units on the front wall, but note that there are five more such units (30” x 30” x 16”) installed horizontally on the ceiling above the speakers, together with five more units tuned to 80-200Hz in the next row. Also note the two white devices at the perimeter on the floor - they’re active bass absorbers made by Switzerland’s PSI Audio, called AVAAs; two more units are placed in other locations in the listening space, for additional bass absorption.

Which Jeff Rowlands amps are you using? Are those Model 725 S2? Is that also a Trinnov Pre-Amp? I’m interested in that combo.

Trying unsuccessfully to control spontaneous drooling over that room . . .

Bryan - yes, they’re JRDG 725 series 2 monoblocks! Have you auditioned them before? I’ve been thrilled with them, since its original incarnation eight years ago, through its S2 upgrade from about 2-1/2 years ago.

The Trinnov Amethyst, I’ve owned for about four years - apart from the intriguing education and experience of measuring and seeing the room measurements, then drawing and applying various correction curves, it’s not really for me, as I prefer my music without the DSP corrections. So it’s going up for sale soon.

I have not auditioned the 725 S2 in my home but have owned quite a bit of Rowland gear over the years. I was about to jump on a pair a couple years ago but another customer beat me to them. I’m a huge Jeff Rowland fan.

I know a person who has the Trinnov ST2-HiFi in his system. Probably one of the best all around systems I have ever heard. I probably will pick up one or a McIntosh men220 one day.

Great setup.

Made some stands out of walnut for my Magnepans.

Nice. Might try this on 1.7’s.

These are .7s?

Man those speaker s are gorgeous!
I have panel-envy

Thanks for the nice comments.

Yep, these are .7’s. 55" high without stands. 59" now.

I also made new side trim to match, as the original was the light oak. I didn’t have walnut that long so I just stained some pine. Looks great from five feet away!

You’ll notice the two different colored subs, too. At some point I’ll replace those little Cambridge Audio units with some RELs. Need to decide whether to go with black or white. As much as white seems like the right call, the black actually hides itself better, when viewed straight on.

I’d argue that the sound is much improved over the regular L brackets (which keep the speakers tilted back, and right on the floor). Raising them up adds some depth and dimensionality.

Much happier with them now!

Still contemplating trading out the off-white socks for gray ones, which would match the rug in the room. The white is ok, but it looks like i’m trying to hide the speakers, rather than embracing the fact that they’re there! I’d love to find someone to make custom colored socks. JBL Orange anyone? :star_struck:

It hadn’t crossed my mind the fabric could be swapped out, I’m now imagining tie-dye (to annoy my wife), and navy blue, or yes - electric orange
