System Photos!

Yeah, Magnepan will sell you replacement socks in off-white, gray or black for $80/pr.

But I do have some RIT dye in a few different colors and if I get brave I might try to DIY it. (Knowing I could get some gray ones if the dye job goes sideways.)

Nice AV stand. Who makes it?

Well @goblue, I’m not @tlp but this looks like a nicely realized DIY “Flexy Rack” to me.

My wife would beat me to it, she loves tie-dye, she also takes old t-shirts of music themes, cuts them and installs over art canvas frames. Stuffs them from the rear to help on reflection when hung on the wall. She is very creative and I’m just the installer.

Nicely done. Does the vertical posture make you feel any less like they’re an unwelcome room design stand-out?

I have the same Cambridge sub, in white, for my living room HT setup, along with their little Minx satellites. It’s just left of the main base cabinets in the photo. The little sats are immediately left, right, and above the TV.

They are much better. I always felt uneasy with the tilted-back situation. Not like they were going to fall, but just the perspective.

Plus, the walnut adds visual contrast and richness, so they look more like furniture now vs monochromatic steel office cubicle dividers!

Nice setup with your satellites + subs, @Craig_Burgess. I find the Cambridge Minx X201’s are small but they do the job. I have the larger x301 in the dining room, but I like having one sub behind each panel. It’s messing with my anal nature to have two different colors, but it might mess more with it to have two different sizes!

I’ll likely go for REL T/5i’s if/when I do. I’m just now realizing I could wrap the subs in walnut vinyl to match the stands! :exploding_head:

EDIT: Plus, I see you’re a mandolin player. Me too!

That’s a lovely space, very clean and airy, really well laid out.

The stand is two Ikea Butcher blocks sandwiched between a Salamander Archetype rods and shelves,

Very cool. I also like your Haiku fan. I have a couple around my house but I bought them before they made that metallic finish. Looks great!

I just started mandolin a few months ago. I’ve played banjo and guitar for over 40 years, though not with any consistency (or talent).

Re the REL - it’s hard to say how much is science and how much is marketing (or how much room size and other variables affect it), but their website’s which-one-is-right-for-me tool said the t/7i is the best choice for .7s. (I checked because i have .7s, too. I was just curious, since I’m pretty happy with my old Hsu.)

Thanks. The whole house is my wife’s and my design (I’m an architect). The wall unit was my own design and construction (I’m a woodworker, too, but mostly just in casework and built-ins).

That fan is a lifesaver during the summer months. It’s the only room that I run a 84" diameter. It moves a ton of air while rotating very slowly with virtually no noise. I used to run Parasound JC1’s which also act as unwanted space heaters. The BHK’s run much cooler.

Same here with guitar. Years of it, and I probably still consider that my best instrument. I have a banjo too, and can noodle on it, but I stay out of jams with it.

I’ve played mandolin for a dozen years or so. My main rig is a Sorensen Sprite. Love this thing. Had it built for me about five years ago. It’s wonderful. It’s ORANGE! You sensing a theme?

Yeah, I also got the same result from the REL subwoofer-matcher thingy, but I just think the 7i’s are too big for my current space. I’ll probably be in this house for the next 4-ish years or so. When I move, it’ll probably be into a loft space I already own, and after I sell my house, I’ll have some extra funds to go nuts on the stereo. It will likely be a completely different scenario by then.

That’s a nice instrument …and orange rocks!

Only one caveat with the Pi4. It may require a fan to keep it cool depending on the load. One can underclock and undervolt which helps but…

I run Pi-Hole and other network services on one. Finally retired old 2b Pi.

I use (large, slow, pretty silent) fans on a lot of kit - I like to run it as cold as possible, extends lifetimes noticeably in my experience
