haha nothing will happen anytime soon, so they’re safe for now!
Wait - this is PLUS a grand😝
I find the P3ESR and SHL5+ more “fun and engaging” than the 30’s, which are comparatively clinical - for Harbeths.
So P3’s (even non-XD) and maybe a small sub in the Dungeon. You could sit on the sub if you delay it properly (do not delay the mains). A lot to be said for tailoring the gear to the room. Some room/setups get to be like headphones in a way - and that applies equally to people who put Mega Systems in relatively small rooms.
Unless you custom build the room, or treat the living crap out of it, you are “playing the room” to a significant degree.
I love my Buchardt Audio S400 Signature Edition but I am not sure you would still like the Aegir’s. Looks like you have a running system and you know what they say about running systems.
I see subs in that room already
yep, a pair of REL T/5i
and i do have P3ESR’s in my den/office. I’ve tried them in the basement, albeit with a different amp. Might bring em down to try em again. Might be just the ticket.
Beats dead people!
Ha ha, brilliant!
Just got the DS back from jkrichards who installed the Lundahls, VOCM mod and C704 and I feel that I’m very near the end of this 20 year journey. Thought I would post a picture. Started out with these SAP Quartettes in 2000. Then added the rel subs. The PWDll in 2012 was converted to DS in 2014. Numerous transports until finally settling on the Jay’s CDT3. Power conditioning by Core power tech and all cabling by ElCo and Stealth. Pass labs INT25
Well i got antsy and thought, let’s try to spray a fine mist of water on the linen and let it dry and see what happens. Maybe it’ll shrink a bit. Low risk, right?
Well, it seemed to do the trick.
That’s much better
Brilliant!
Yeh pretty pleased with the result.
And now, we return you to the P3ESR 40th vs 30.2 XD dungeon cage match, already in progress…
I’ll flip em around, orient each both inside and outside, etc… (At first blush, those 30.2’s are really sweet.)
I just know I’m gonna bring the KLH’s down here and then I’ll want a second pair!
I really like the KLH Model 5. The looks, the price, the design (acoustic suspension / closed cabinet). Perfect choice…
By price level and performance I bet these are also great partners to any of the Stellar power amps.
It’s just that I do not want to give up my Buchardt S400 SE with the beautiful Buchardt stands in the living room.
I will tell you right now those buchardt 400s were (still are!) on the list. I’ve read so many great things and would love to hear them.
They’d probably fit just as nicely in my living room as the KLH’s, too. Totally different vibe, but would look equally awesome.
(Darko did a very funny video about them a few months back. If you weren’t an audiophile you’d think it was just a stellar review, but he filled the video with so many clichéd superlatives, that it was obviously an April Fool’s Day thing.)
They need power though. I have them hooked up to my NAD M33 200 W 8 Ohm and 380 W at 4 Ohm. Their soft character fit the class D Eigentakt and the combo is great. Less budget? Get the NAD C298 Eigentakt power amp or a stereo (combo) Stellar power amps.
Here with my 40+ year old “entry level” Thorens TD105.
Signature Edition
yeah, they are gorgeous.
and a LEGO DB5!
They show a zebrawood signature on the site now, but it’s sold out.
The Zebra Wood are the A500 Signature Edition. They utilize Purifi long stroke ultra low distortion woofers. Beautiful active speakers. Buchardt produces 50 pcs of Signature Edition speakers.
All Signature Edition speakers are actually manufactured in Denmark.
Mads Buchardt auditioned the S400 Signature Edition and A500 (standard edition) to us and explained all the features, components and manufacturing process. It was a most informative day of our vacation in Denmark. We met Michael Denmark from this forum on our way home.
Because at that time I had already the NAD M33 integrated with Purifi power amps, we decided for the passive S400 Signature Edition. They replaced Canton Vento floorstanding speakers.
I need to try a pair of those! They have had my attention for quite some time. But my wife told me the next time I bring home a pair of speakers I have to physically eat the pair they are replacing. Ice Cream Cone speakers make mores sense to me now.
Don’t do it. I had to eat a Pass amplifier and I still don’t feel right 6 moths later.
The most strongest weapon of the spouse to keep control on living space and budget. She keeps telling me that I need to kick out my Thorens TD105 when I get the TD1601. Still figuring out a way to avoid that. It’s just not going to happen: kicking out the TD105 neither my wife, love her to bits.
