Just upgraded the single driver speakers on system 2 (AKA; the bedroom) with the sigma version of the Fostex drivers. Oh man this is sweet for really short money. Love tinkering. Better bass and mids while sweetening the highs. It’s all good.
Edit: that Bottlehead Stereomour II integrated continues to amaze even fed with a Bluetooth source.
As a Beta tester for the DS MKII, I want to post my current system I am using to evaluate this fabulous new DAC.
Well Tempered Reference TT and arm with SoundSmith Hyperion MKII cartridge.
Esoteric C-02 preamp
Esoteric E-02 Phono preamp.
PS Audio DS MKII DAC.
Esoteric N-03T Streamer.
Esoteric A-02 power amp.
PS Audio PST transport.
PS Audio P-20 power plant regenerator.
Oppo 205 4k Blu Ray Player.
Sony XBR 65" 4k TV.
DIY Infinity RS3b speakers. Only the drivers on the speakers are original, every other parts are modified including the cabinet. I’m in love with the sound of these speakers, they are so highly resolving really organic sounding monitors.
I do not want to go into the cables and power cords I am using in this system, suffice to say they are equivalent in quality to the rest of the system.
Hi Al, yes I do some Home Theater with this incredible new DS MKII too in stereo only though. You’ll be surprise how much more I enjoy the movies when the sound also blows you away.
Well good for you. Not everyone has all the rooms, systems and funds that you have. There are those that can combine two systems and still have jaw dropping sound in both systems.
Actually, my home theater setup was built way before this insane audio bug got me. It was in the largest part of the room. It was a nice setup I was quite content with. Then one day I opened a box that had my old turntable in it.
I went on EBay and found an AKAI AM 2800 Integrated amp with a decent phono preamp. Got the matching tuner as well. Had them both serviced and hooked them up to my ADS L710s. I put it in the half hexagon room connected to the big room. That’s how my journey started.
Now the theater is in the little room, one seat. And the big system got its old spot. I will admit I have thought about a drop down screen and one of those new projectors that sit close to the screen. Such a projector could use my Apex as a vibration killing platform. Then I would rarely have to move.
The hex shape resulted in no 90 degree corners, was symmetrical and had a large open room behind it. But the old home theater location had 5 20amp circuits. Now that I’m not running class D amps those circuits come in handy. I like both setups. The third setup is in my computer lab which is also down here in moms basement.
