Nice system! I have been listening to power cables after draining my wallet
on all PSA gear and Iconoclast wires like yourself. I like the SR Alpha and
have one coming for the DAC where I found its charm most noticeable.
An AC12 is on the P20. Hard to pony up for the rest as Brodric noted.
If you care do divulge your source I would be grateful. Cable Co. has
been my source to date.
@straightwire - I went the 6ga, 20A SR Anaconda for the P20 from 8ga AC12 after @RonP talked about how great his SR Anaconda sounded. Holy crap was that a step up and not even their Sigma NR 6ga, 20A. I’m waiting till next year and all the rich people upgrade to their new cable (bleeding edge). I found that cord at half price used of MSRP. All SR power cords are designed, made in USA and tested at the USA factory, ensuring great quality control. The Alpha NR is their new line and I could not afford the Sigma NR (6ga) or I would have went that route for all my cables. I will buy just SR cords going forward and phasing all my PSA cords out. Those cords are great, SR cords are much better.
My next investment after already doing 10/2 single run and SR BLUE duplex is Perfect Path “GATE” that I am presently researching. I talked to the P20 and he wanted clean power. Power forms the basis for every signal in the chain; therefore, I wanted to make sure I addressed it as well as I could for my limited financial resources.
@straightwire - thanks for the nod on my system… sorry, I don’t discuss where I get great deals. However, I have bought cables from thecableco and they are a great source for cable deals, especially the frequent buyer prices.
Thanks for your insight and useful comments.
Updated system photos with GIK tri-traps in every corner. One of the best ways to improve bass for not much $$$. The two stacks behind the speakers have their unique range limiter feature that only absorbs bass and reflects most high frequencies. Works great when you want some reflected highs from planar speakers. Very pleased. The quality of the bass has improved dramatically.
Nice system. Looks like Saunders speakers which I admire but never heard. You are spot on that dipoles can use bass absorption and simultaneously treble reflection behind them.
Just built some tube traps, four 3 foot cylinders,
15” in diameter, with 1” ridged insulation and a 2 mil plastic front, stacked behind Maggie’s. A poor man’s ACT trap. Works pretty good. Ted and others have commented on other materials, thicknesses,
and distances from walls. Experimentation is the key and I am glad you got your room right.
@straightwire I admire your DIY approach. I used to do things like this all the time. The GIK tri-traps are reasonably priced at ~$300 / pair so decided to take the lazy path.
The speakers are Sanders model 10e. I have been an electrostat disciple for many years now. I had Acoustat Model 22’s with sub, then Innersound Eros Mk3 (using the same updated “ultrastat” panels now on the 10e). Roger Sanders and his company Sanders Sound Systems are a joy to work with. Great support (like PSA) and all designs backed by engineering (no fluffy BS or absurd prices).
Check out all the great white papers on their site. It really helped me understand all the rationale behind their speaker “systems”. Bi-amping and active crossovers/EQ make so much sense to me.
Hope you get to hear these sometime. I’m done looking for anything better for my home system.
Nice! It’s great to see you took the time to treat the room - it’s wild how much difference it can make.
I’m very lucky to have a wife who is also very into music. WAF is usually not an issue unless I suggest something too crazy like treating all wall-to ceiling corners too!
That’s great to hear Being able to share hobbies is awesome. Having a listening buddy is my favorite way to enjoy music.
Second listen has me even more convinced the corner traps are a “must have”. Wow! Had some other bass traps but they absorbed too much of the reflected highs from my ESLs. This is much more like it.
No snickering now. These cable elevators/separators at $45 on eBay seemed like a no-brainer to separate the bi-amped highs, lows and ESL bias power. My latest mantra is “do no harm” so money well spent?
ever tried to accomplish on the cheap?
try using folded cardboard or Match Boxes…maybe best to remove the matches 1st …works great BTW…
anything that is non-conductive WILL work just as well…
even consider raising the AC cable off the floor when static electricity is a factor…
Nice lifts. I found a cheap (and maybe) effective way to get cables off the floor, especially the stiff
ones like Iconoclast. Shown are mini phone tripods
from Amazon at $22 for four that can get up to 8”
off the floor.
Cool idea!
Those look like just what I am looking for to try and separate my power cords from my speaker cable behind the rack, they are ribbon types so those are perfect I thought I was going to have to improvise something to go on the wall.
Thanks for posting!
Wouldn’t the ferrous / metallic composition of the tripod heads interfere magnetically with the carefully-wound Iconoclast speaker cables? I use 500g bags of charcoal (sold as deodorizers in Hong Kong) as cable lifters, as they are very affordable (US$8/bag), electrostatic-conductive, and inert (non magnetic).
AN killers
Here my old QRS 1 completely renovated - they obviously beat all PS audio speakers lol hehe…more love Denmark

This speaker is approved by AN (mine is from 1978)
The speaker cabinet is solid timber, or timber veneer?
Is that angle of the ceiling killing your soundstage?
