Good going - a lot of folks “do room treatments” with no room assessment whatsoever. But yeah it’s all a balance. I’ll admit the plain Jane GIK stuff is on the utilitarian looking side
, but it gets the job done. If you feel the room has gotten too “dead” with the amount of absorption, then it does sound like an alteration may be needed. Some of the analysis outfits tend to shoot for “recording room” type results, where at least in my experience, in 2 channel home sound rooms the result is too dead (and the REW impulse response analysis tends to support this). Sounds like you’ve got a compact room.

There are currently three Anthem AVM60 prepros for sale on Audigon for under $2k. I own and use one of these. It is as good as it gets IMHO.
I just upgraded my 60 for a 70. Still not as good as what I have for two channel. Always wondered would a 90 been closer? The 70 with the next gen room correction with sub phase alignment is amazing. They are really getting Arc genesis cooking. Hmm maybe I should look at that integrated or at least try the pre and keep the 300’s.
I just wish these had the quality XLR analogue inputs like the AVM 50’s/previous generations have.
Brian, have you tried the Vicoustic Flat Panel PET panels? I’m thinking of trying a box to deal with some significant slap echo problems. I’ve heard great things about the Cinema Rounds, but I want panels that don’t cost too much and blend in with white walls as well as possible. Did you view the videos of Darko’s Vicoustic makeover of his listening room in Portugal? Looks like an expensive project.
Well golly. We may have different needs. I don’t pay a lot of attention to the audio in my theater system. Once it reached outstanding I stopped upgrading it.
I have not. I do not have mine ether. Just ordered a few to see. I have the ceiling done for a while. I think helped a ton. I am less than 8’ tall ceiling.
How are your new amps?
I will check my local post office for postings. Maybe they will have a good likeness of you.
We have no suspisions. LOL
A company also from Portugal making some of the finest acoustic panels.
Having lived in MN since 1976 I have learned the difference between nice and friendly. The old joke is a Minnesotan will give you directions to anywhere but their house. If you ever have a layover you can swing up for a listen at my shack.
That’s very kind of you. I may take you up on your offer later this year. Yesterday, all I wanted to do was get home. This last week was exhausting.
Our flight crew who were all based in Minneapolis were amazingly friendly. They were a fun group and had great camaraderie amoung themselves. At one point they were spoofing Monty Python’s “Bring out your dead” with “Bring out your trash”.
I can’t even get Matt to listen to my setup. Sigh.
