The final release of Massive for MK2 DAC

Agreed. I consider myself old enough to be fairly computer literate including some basic programming.
Never mastered the lightning double-thumb thing though, still laborious fingers for me

Well, Tuesday will be my good news day, that’s when my files arrive!

Got my boots and coat by the front door. The delivery truck vigil begins in exactly one hour.

Yes, I hope yours arrives. Mine was supposed to be delivered yesterday, and was moved to Tuesday.

It is not so much for size / bandwidth (nowadays) but to stop browsers (or OSs - looking at you, MacOS of old) trying to be clever and play or install or otherwise mangle the files (sometimes based on the extension, sometimes based on an incorrect mime-type).

Zip is an archive that avoids all that silliness.

Ah, that makes sense to me, downloading .exe, .bin files triggers all kinds of browser and compute alarms and blocks.
Ideally, the machine would be internet connected and update quietly in the background, like Auralic does. That has its own security risks, but it does work very well in my experience.

This is what they mean by “cold out of the box”

Give that a long time to warm up before powering it up.

Looks like Dahlquist DQ10’s lurking by the Mk2. Had a pair, and made money modifying them during college when the early production models were not mirror-imaged.

The anticipation, elation, break in blues of the output transformers. Only 250 hours to go……. Congratulations

You’re almost there.

Installed Massive 2 days ago and I’m very happy with the SQ improvement. Main thing I hear now is a quieter background staying out of the way of the music.

Now I’m curious about your experiences with the ground/lift options on inputs and outputs before and after the massive upgrade. Did you try any adjustments on ground lift settings after the upgrade and found a different setting resulted in an even better sound.

BTW, I am running all inputs & outputs grounded. Seem to get a stronger/better bass sound.

Thanks to the PS Audio team for continuing to support and improve this great DAC. You guys are top of the heap in the audio world!

So close!

Congrats! These are beautiful machines.

I am waiting for the fpga to settle in before changing ground settings, just kept the ones I used with M-Beta.

I gather from posts here that ground settings will depend on which inputs and devices used and of course personal preference. I use only PST to I2s-1 input with ground lifted and all other inputs grounded and also the output ground lifted.

Also I have the output shell grounded. With this lifted the soundstage expanded but images were highly diffuse, almost as if out of phase. This happened with every set of code from the first (pre Antero) and to Massive-Beta.

Please post your results when you try it.

Flabbergasted! Subtly mind bending! Clearly I’ve been living in the digital dark ages until now. It’s broken in a full two hours now and you say it will get even better than this? Unbelievable. My system is at a whole other level now. I’m kind of in shock. I even peeled off the plastic on the top. Guess I’ll be keeping it now.

Excellent report!

Please let us know what you think after you’ve had it running for a few days.

Thanks for your response jerryd6. Will pass on any changes if I make them. Wanna give the update a few more days to settle in. Will definitely try your lifts on the used input & output. My only used input is USB.

Thks worked

Bought my Dahlquists new in 1978 and I’ve never been tempted to replace them.
