Here we are 12 months on from the Massive 3.1.0 software release for the DS DAC mk2.
Question is when is the next update going to be?
We were told likely to be only one update per year in future as other projects that @Ted would be working on and finding the time for it.
Therefore seems reasonable to ask how things are progressing.
The next one will be called “Toad Peak” and it will require treatment. Guidance at the very least.
Hi , Does any one know if there are any new planned software updates in 2024 for The Direct Stream DacMk2 since the Massive update came out in February?
Thank you
I have no inside knowledge, but if I recall correctly, Ted or Paul said in the forum at the last release don’t expect an FPGA update for at least 18 months. I tried looking for the post not long ago without success. It’s conceivable that PS Audio could release updates to the User Interface (I’m not sure that’s the term PS uses), but don’t expect it. To be clear, Ted does the programming of the FPGA and PS Audio does the programming for the User Interface. The days of rapid development of new firmware are behind us. Ted has learned a lot over the last ten years and he nailed it on the DS Mk II early on. Improvements will be harder to come by.
I, for one, will be very interested in what the next update will be. I would be surprised if it doesn’t include further advancements in lowering of the noise floor with all the sonic improvements that traditionally would imply. But I’m not wringing my hands waiting. Mount Massive is wonderful and I can see myself quite happy using it for the foreseeable future.
