To all the BACCH users out there, We did something today that we haven’t done in months…
We bypassed BACCH and couldn’t believe what we heard, dull, bloated, lifeless, music from between two speakers.
Just saying!

Thanks @Steve08226 !
Of course this means that I will need to scheme towards a Muon Pro at some stage. I connected the Swiss Digital Fuse Box with graphene Sluggo to my P20 last night. Fantastic. My BHK300s are next after I burn the cables with a cable burner. Woo hoo
Agree there is no going back from BACCH
I’ve been very interested in giving this software a try. I’ve gone as far as downloading it to my Mac, but I can’t figure out how to launch the program.
Normally it is installed with the help of Theoretica Applied Physics. You would need to buy it and then if you want a refund they would credit back your purchase.
Thanks, I thought I was downloading their 14 day trial.
Is that the BACCH-Labs plug-in you are looking to try? The banter here is generally about the full-blown BACCH Theoretica software. The website for that is: Theoretica Applied Physics | Home. If you are googling for help / advice, need to be careful for which version.
Thanks Carousel,
This is the page I found the 14 day trial on.
Yup. That is BACCH Labs, a way Princeton looks to monetise the tech. You can dip your toe in the BACCH water with this to test the XTC crosstalk tech. But it cannot be extended to the whole BACCH suite. At least not when I looked into it two Summers ago. I went Theoretica, step by step getting deeper all the time.
Oops! Too many weeks back, Edgar blessed my adio with ORC. Whoa! Yet another major league jump in audio kindness! Not subtle, nope. Major leaps are dime a dozen these days. But still.
I have a front seat and rear seat. The front seat you are center front on the stage. It isn’t for the faint. In the back seat though life is different. The Soundstage becomes infinitely wider. And the separation of instruments more pinpoint. The air is fresher and lighter, in an audio sense.
New system, new filters. ORC first then XTC. I made one for each seat.
Now when I sit in front using the back seat filters, the front seat gains those back seat qualities. The back seat gets better still. Odd.
The adio rocks!
Can you duplicate this ORC listening experience with the BACCH4MAC?
ORC is an add-on for BACCH4Mac. I have it on my installation.
Thanks.
ORC was released for Bacch4Mac in February. I got it for mine then. But for my BACCH-SP adio there was a six month wait. That is over now. Nice!
Excellent Al!
The same trick works for reclined chairs with filters made straight up vs reclined. It might be greater with 2nd chair.
Hello All. Just spent a few days going through this forum. Whew!
Anyway, I’ve had B4M audiophile with ORC installed for a couple of months now, and am getting familiar with its options.
Just in passing, the MM m2 replaced a dCS streamer - it actually outclasses it in a number of ways. Speakers are active (Kii3) so direct connection with USB.
A Few observations….
I’m a little hard of hearing….can only hear upto about 6.5-7 kHz. For me then the spectral entropy settings combined with the mono correction tool was revelatory.
All in all, I agree it’s probably the next level for me. Never heard anything like this before.
Here is the problem: as soon as the HT camera is switched on, the system trips out. I told Edgar about this a week ago, but so far nothing. He is so busy nowadays. It’s not critical as ORC is still normal. But if anyone has any ideas on this, please guide me…
Aubrey
Good to hear about your experience. I can’t afford any more audio gear; but if I did succumb to more purchases, it would be BACCH. I would like the room correction feature.
That makes no sense. Are you using the supplied camera or something else?
So I noticed the other day that I was getting weird echo-like and garbled sounds that would only go away when I hit resync.
Then it occurred to me that I had been looking downwards into a tablet while browsing / surfing. So maybe the BACCH4Mac was getting confused from that.
I turned off the camera, as I was not done shopping.
Only when Talk Talk, I Don’t Believe In You came on did I come back and activate the facial recognition again.
Any views / opinions?
Should the rule be: face up to the music?!
I don’t use head tracking so I can’t help you.
The head tracking works. But I tend to sit still in my listening chair. I also tend to sit in the dark. This makes it really hard for the cam to track me. I just got used to not using it and not missing it.
If I get up to dance I don’t need the system to try to follow me.
