I have BACCH 14.4. What is the latest version of BACCH?
No idea here.
You can always check here for the release notes. The file will point you to the latest version (that as of today is 14.4).
I stumbled across this interview with Edgar sorry itâs from Jason but you can easily fast forward thru Jason and get to Edgar discussing Bacch. Edgar is truly a fascinating individual and genius!
Some Bacch insights in this article.

Edgar and David Chesky are good friends. I got to see Lucca and his speakers at Axpona they are impressive and sound great! At under $1k per pair a steal of bargain! Hope that there is at least one young genius involved in HIFI!
Sitting in on one of Edgarâs lectures at Axpona he credits his friends for encouraging him to produce his Bacch software for consumer use. I would not be surprised if that friend was David Chesky.
The Chesky family is talented.
The sound bar was interesting. I would be tempted to use it under the TV for rowing.
Edgar said that he is working with a company to incorporate his technology in a soundbar. Wouldnât mention names just said something is in the works.
I spent over $3k on the upgrade microphones. They are useless to me until Edgar makes the required changes to my BACCH-SP. He can do it over his phone from anywhere. He said he would do it on Sunday. He didnât. Now he is ignoring me.
Huge sigh.
Sadly, service sucks and has for over a year now.
Paraphrasing⊠I know this is not verbatim⊠You traded for this?! No, for a microphone. A microphone? Okay, I can see that.
Actually I was not happy with service support. But then I turned on my US phone and noticed that he had been calling it again, despite my commenting repeatedly that I only answer email and the phone number is only there for the credit card. But I guess that is not so normal on my part either. So it was OK.
I am deeply disappointed.
The devices are amazing. But.
Is Edgar a one-man company basically (I do not hear anyone else mentioned)? How can he handle the growing BACCH community? There must be more than 20 users from this forum alone.
If that is the case I am not sure I am interested in the soundbar anymore.
I would say yes. He has an assistant but I donât believe he does anything to help at the software level.
A most joyous update. Out of the blue, Edgar called me tonight. Our call lasted well over an hour. The new required microphone software for the BM Pro microphones is properly installed. Whew. I think these microphones are absolutely required to get the very most XTC and ORC offer. If I wasnât 220 miles from home I would be making a new filter at this moment. I am totally psyched.
What I did not properly understand about the BM Pro microphones is it doesnât matter if they work better at frequencies I no longer hear, the XTC and ORC makes use of the far more detailed and accurate signal from the Microphones to make much better filters. Less dynamic range changes means less work for the computer inside. It follows that better filters will make a better presentation. I canât wait to hear it for myself.
Edgar also explained how wonderful they are for making recordings. Long story short, I ordered a new BabyFace Pro to connect up to my MacBook Pro. I am putting the B4M software, with the headphone option and ORC on the MacBook Pro. I will be able to listen to my home stereo, just as it sounds in my room anywhere I go with the MacBook Pro. Plus, it will be an absolute killer machine to make binary recordings with. When I replay the recording with either headphones or over my regular system, I will hear the room as if I was there. This could prove very interesting. Edgar offered me an excellent discount on the software. Noice. A traveling B4M setup. I could stop by your place to demonstrate it. Fun.
I also suggested a new product for Edgar. Once you make a headphone filter, headphones now sound like normal stereo. Soundstage exactly the same as normal with stereo speakers. No more stuck between your ears sound. If he could make a small device that you put between your mobile sound device, could be your phone, in place, you now hear speakers in a room with headphone speed. Fast fast fast and more detail as headphones donât have to move a lot of air. Price it at $500 and Iâll give them as gifts. BACCH sound, with headphones, that anyone could enjoy. Fun.
It was a fantastic call. Somehow I was able to stay quiet for extended periods of time. I learned a lot. And it is going to cost me $3500 as I have a laptop to tweak. Fun.
I feel blessed and pampered. More importantly I feel appreciated. All sad thoughts gone. Canât wait to get home. And later next week I will get the MacBook Pro working properly. Kuhl kewl cool!
Edgar, I apologize. You are my favorite. Oh heck yes!
Allâs wellâŠ
Edgarâs trainee at the time responded to one of my emails a couple years back. But because I was doing something non-standard and wierda** as usual, Edgar would need to get back to me. That made sense to me. The disconnect came when he kept calling out of the blue to a phone that is only there for credit card approvals and is normally turned off. And I kept emailing asking for an arranged appointmentâŠ
Iâd expect, for a product from some OEM⊠or from L.Chesky⊠that licenses his (Princetonâs) technology, the support would be whatever the OEM provide. Probably a forumâŠ
I like to think we do a good job at basic customer support and advisory! It sure is fun for me at least!
Edgar set me up Friday night. I was 250 miles away from home until tonight. I made my first filter with the BM Pro mics. Listening now.
I can instantly switch between 7 filters, some made with gear missing from the current setup. It is fun to switch. My new filter is no. 7. No. 5 is the same thing but with the included mics.
The difference is so obvious, itâs a slap upside the head. It seems nice.
Switching to the older filters makes the difference instantly obvious. All the others are interesting and fun. But No. 7 is the new norm. Instrument placement is much, much improved. Who knew it could be? LOL. Edgar did.
This is, without a doubt, the least subtle upgrade I have experienced.
I am taking your advice Al - I am ordering the BM Pro mics upgrade!
