Theoretica Applied Physics BACCH

,

I went ahead and hooked up the speakers to my adio. I figured out how to work the crossover and started listening in bypass mode. In order to get immediate service I informed Edgar about this. My Edgar call is five minutes away.

It’s weird listening to music with my Commander and Apex shut down. Just large heavy gear all dark and silent.

Edgar call done, HOLY SCHITT!!
This seems Very, Very, Very Nice!!!

This system Rocks!!!

i want the pinball machine!

I can even hear distortion better with B4M. Am I crazy? (Please don’t answer that.)

Stooges sound like they are live - had flashbacks even. This is nuts. The way their guitar was supposed to sound before digitized and all smoothed out. Yum.

Gimme Danger.

Glad that was short lived!!
Excited for you, Al!

In my humble opinion, it takes a week or two for your brain to adjust so that you can actually start truly hearing EVERYTHING BACCH can do. At first you’re like, Wow! Two weeks later you don’t have an appropriate exclamation word. I could be wrong, but since you are the most recent victim, pay attention, tell us how it goes. Please.

Sorry for a double post.
I am listening to the Luxury HiFi Distribution playlist. This sounds so very much better than ever before. With just out of the box speakers.
I am using the Courtesy Cables to power each speaker. The XLR cables were $40 a pair on Amazon. The TRS to XLR cables I bought at a guitar store for $5 each. (Edgar’s promised cables didn’t arrive when the Speakers did. I anticipated this so I ordered the Amazon XLRs. I thought the speakers had one XLR and one TRS socket. Nope. Two XLR inputs. Hence the trip to the guitar shop.)
(Better cables coming.)

Anyway, right now it’s a Felix Laband song which makes it hard to focus. It has never sounded this good in this room. No subwoofers are involved. Those are for sale.

I have decided my strategy has changed, instead of goading you nice lads into expensive cables and Class A whatever. In the future I will be a “forget about cables, amplifiers, preamps, special feet” kinda guy. I am sitting in a room with a completely disconnected Gryphon Apex. I am listening to streaming, and I’m gobsmacked. This is better, way better. And it involves less gear, and a lot less money. A lot less.

For awhile the smart money was on a Gryphon Diablo, an MU2, a PowerZone, and speakers to taste. That system rules. Don’t fret. But for someone who wants to get to a magical place and not spend a lot of dough, there are new ways. Axpona was my clue. Kii Speakers, a bit pricey but they do not need BACCH, not even a little. They do the job. They are increasingly spendy, but a pair of stand mounts is so not suffering. No. In the future you can add the BXTs and experience love and lust like never before again. Or shucks, the Sevens are under $10K and they don’t need BACCH either.

But, an adio and a simple pair of JansZen by Edgar speakers and holy moly rocky, you have something very special. If you have a Bacch4Mac setup you can just buy the normal JansZens.

So two simple ways to go. Wanna skip BACCH? Buy speakers from my buddy Sean. He is now an authorized Kii dealer. He had standmount Kii 3s. I spent the better part of four days with Sean listening to those things. They were stunning. I hooked them up to my B4M and noticed an ever so slight improvement. Subtle at best. Sean HATED the BACCH. So I unplugged it after an hour or so. Never more. He was supposed to receive his 3BXTs today. He ended up sad. Tomorrow maybe.

Anyway, if you aren’t interested in BACCH, Kii. Sevens or 3s or 3BXTs.
If you are a fan of BACCH, JansZens. Edgar’s version is cheaper, but it requires an adio. With B4M, the same speakers are $1379 more. And they have more stuff inside. I haven’t tested that.

Edgar is negotiating with Roon to allow him to run Roon on BACCH machines. If you don’t spin discs that’s pretty much two pieces of gear. To hell with cables and fuses and all that once fun stuff. I like shortcuts, but I take a long expensive journey to find them.

Thoughts?

  • I would say the step up in sound is similar to switching from Roon to Maestro times two.

Hello, I am glad to hear this is such an improvement. What are the cross talk cancellation values you get with these speakers compared to the old setup? How do the graphs on the bacch SP look like?

I will post them here. They are the finest I have ever seen. Edgar and I made one pass in bin onee. No second pass. He made some adjustments to the adio. Then we did one pass in a Bin 2. He liked what he saw after the changes. No pass two. We went back to one and he said something changed, what did you do? I said I pushed the mics deeper in my ear. He said don’t do that, take them out and put them in like they were. I did. We did pass one again and he looked at the graphs. That’s better, back like it was. Then we did pass 2 finally. I’ve been listening for five hours now. It’s pretty compelling. First three hours streaming. Now a CD. I am afraid to try vinyl. Wouldn’t be prudent.

Am ‘discovering’ new music within the music I always loved… and with the Theoretica Applied B4M playlist from Qobuz discovering new music as well.

Had to remove TV (optical) from a babyface tho, no way to remove sound without turning off/pausing video and I am used to switching to music during commercials etc.

There is a mixer function I am not supposed to tell you about. But I most likely will. It allows you to mute an input without unplugging it. We should talk on the phone.

I am so glad to hear that the active speakers are working wonderfully for you! It makes one’s system such simpler :+1:

This could be massive as far as sound quality improvements.

That is a quit and sure fire way to eliminate noise and simple to reconnect if using Bacch with TV.

There are people, deep insiders, silent, telling no one that are already doing this. I am not one of them. As Maestro calms, I want it running on my adio and B4M. Roon is in decline. Sad but true.

Here you go.

Impressive graphs. Sound and spacing must be very good. Enjoy.

Graph number 3 puzzles me. Right and left stay together except at one frequency. Today is Edgars birthday so I will leave him alone. But next week.
My two not connected to power or signal subs are right next to each speaker. I plan to get them out of the room and make another filter. I will also post graphs from the last filter I made with the old gear. Stay tuned.

My room is full of reflective surfaces and no room correction so BACCH ORC has its work cut out for it.

The bottom graph is Orc, the topsiturvy one is XTC. Your system looks like Orc has little to do.
