If I ignore her and just play at my happy levels all the time I might just end up with my own space! ![]()
Perhaps request Edgar for another cancellation extension in the next version?! Lol
A fine album with or without Bacch
Everything is better with BACCH.
(Unless you own Kii speakers, then you donāt need it.)
Naughty boy as you tempt me. Maybe, just maybe I should audition Kii. Fortunately no nearby audition present themselves. I can imagine the Bacch speakers sound great!![]()
I definitely need it!
My BACCH Martina Speakers are set to arrive on Friday. Fun.
Shoots! Mahalos will listen! have been able to experience so much really good music and really great recordings simply by sniping suggestions from others to others or following advice freely given on the forum Really appreciate it - seems what the digital world was meant for.
Tonight when I fired up my main system my Apex said no thanks. When you power up a sleeping Apex, there are three quite loud noises as the massive capacitors inside charge up quickly. You can actually feel the current surges. On the front panel of the Apex there are maybe twenty lit up idiot lights that are mostly red in color with some other colors. These lights are always off except for on startup. On startup they flash brightly and continuously for maybe 20 seconds. The Apex is checking everything is okay before the large relay sounds indicate all is well and the Amp is ready. Tonight that didnāt finish. Three lights stayed on indicating internal failures that suspended the activation of the amplifer.
Iām listening to it now so donāt panic.
This has happened maybe three times in the years Iāve owned it. My first thought was active speakers arriving tomorrow seems fortuitous. My second thought was if it is broken it will demand in home service. It will only move out of my home once.
Anyway, I turned off the two main power switches. But I failed to count to fifteen like I normally do with any sad component. I switched it right back on. It failed exactly the same. So I did it again but properly counted to fifteen and took a short walk away while counting. That did the trick.
Iām telling you, I wouldnāt wish a $100K+, 450 pound amplifier on anyone. Active, Powered Speakers. And probably Kii instead of what Iām getting. The Martina speakers are completely useless without a fully functioning BACCH-SP adio. Now everything relies on Edgar. Gulp.
I believe 100% that the Kii speakers sound like full crosstalk cancellation and ORC processing on their own, without either. But here I go diving deeper down the bottomless hole. Dopey.
Early warning: Iām losing interest in this hobby. I am growing more interested in long naps and one particular Norwegian Footballer. And of course Messi. Goes without saying.
This hobby, itās getting tiresome. Itās still light years in front of Golf or Coffee or Wine. Grilled cheese sandwiches are surging though. Mmmmmmm!
You, of all people, are not losing interest. You are just impatient with anything that doesnāt live up to your standards. ![]()
I dream of KII 7s often despite not having heard them.
All of the gear I am talking about meets or exceeds my standards. It was all picked by me. We shall see how the new speakers perform.
And before someone asks me what the words are on the lights that stayed on, I have no idea. What I did know is the amp wasnāt happy. I soothed it into being happy and the lights went out.
Remember the words you saw Chas when you had an old piece of gear fail? They were in english, but they meant nothing to you or me. The instruction book stated āIf you see these words, contact your dealerā. My Gryphon dealer is no longer a Gryphon dealer. Ooooops.
Fortunately the APEX is once again behaving. Looking forward to your initial impressions of the Martina speakers and how the Kii system holds up in comparison.
Away from home for a short break in the south of France: no bacch enhanced stereo imaging, but rather the immersive sound of crickets all day and an occasional frog to test my aural senses.
And other goodies like family, summer food and drinks and sight setting to enjoy the good things in life!
Do not tumble down the stairs⦠what kind of warning is thatā¦lol
Sometimes itās good to be away from your system for a bit. When you return and turn it on itās like you rediscover and appreciate what it brings all over again. Before I retired, returning home from a business trip was always that much more enjoyable after turning on the system (or watching a large screen TV after being in a hotel for a week!)
Enjoy your vacationā![]()

Iāll pick them up tomorrow. Lol
Like when I custom ordered a BMW from Germany and had a 30 day gap to fill with a rental car. A Buick Century. It made the Bimmer taste oh so much sweeter.
