I have been hearing for months that they will contact me and ask me to send my unit in for the required hardware upgrade. I took my adio out of my system today and peeked inside it the best I could. I believe it has the guts of an outdated Mac Mini inside it. This is mildly troublesome to me. I might be better off with BACCH4MAC so I can update my system when I want to. But I would miss out on the excellent DAC that is inside my adio.
More Details on release notes.

Bad Measurement Alert. When a bad acoustic measurement is made (e.g. the user forgot to plug in the in-ear microphone before starting the measurement sequence,) the BACCH filter designer no longer hangs up. Instead, BACCH-dSP puts up an alert window to alert the user about the anomaly, and resets itself, after restoring the selected bin to its previous state. (Audiophile Edition and above)

I did the Bacch 13,52upgrade and Ventura 13.52. Things are quieter up top to my ears on initial listen. Seems less noise around images. Sharper and more defined. Easier to pick out subtle details but still more overall kick!!
BACCH4MAC the price of a really great audiophile cable but a gift to yourself that keeps giving more! 8 months in and it more than doubled my initial enjoyment. An audiophile bargain to wake your system up. .
We installed BACCH 13.5 ⦠easy peasy, nice sonic improvement!
Very easy!
The BACCH upgrade seems to be happier to use more of the 32GB of RAM that I made available to it. Maybe this would not mean anything for you all running M1 Apple silicon. But with my 2018 Intel i5 Mac Mini, app memory, and therefore BACCH never seemed to get above 6GB of RAM use. Now it is running 9GB and there are 7GB of cached files. Never saw anywhere near this before. Unfortunately I did not take notes before and I do not want to go back.
@aangen For your unit, might be something to ask Edgar, to prompt him to take action for you. Do you think it is Intel Inside???
No sir, as I clearly stated I believe it has Mac Mini guts inside it. It reports to the network that it is an Apple product. And if I thought bugging Edgar would help my situation I would choose not to. We have a great relationship, Edgar and I. I plan to keep it that way.
May still be Intel Inside as the BACCH-SP adio came out when Macs ran Intel silicon. Depends on what this means: ā64-bit audio processing through a dedicated multi-core CPUā.
Chas is too cool for words!!
All of this Mac talk just made me wonder: This Mac Mini adio heart of yours, do you know whether it has been sufficiently modified to not have the OEM Apple SMPS power supply still feeding it?
I am guessing what is inside. I have not opened it up to see. I have a three year warranty on it.
The chassis and linear power supply are by MSB.
Just getting started. Any help for this newbie as to where to start would be greatly appreciated.
For starters, Iām looking for the best MAC to use.
Thanks
Just get the mini with the software. Get it all from Edgar.
Everything will already be loaded and setup. Connect the units and tell Edgar you are ready.
That sounds like a good plan. Thanks.
Please remind me, when running Roon, is the endpoint running on the Mac? I know the Roon sett up is in here somewhere, I just canāt seem to find it.
BTW - I bought and iPad Pro 11ā yesterday, mainly for travel. My intent is to mostly use is to run either Citrix VDI or Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). But, I have to admit I put Roon, Qobuz, Mosaic, and a few other things on it last night and along with the Magic Keyboard, itās pretty good.
It does make a great VDI client. I havenāt tried Windows Cloud 365 PC yet, but I imagine it will run great. The days have having a personal PC are drawing to a close. I canāt wait, Personal PCs are such a waste of time.
I got the same a few months ago. I never thought about VDI on it. With the pad you can finally Navigate the windows properly. I am going to try.
I use roon arc on it at work with my focal Bathys connected. Inhave not yet done teams meeting with those headsets. But music is mighty fine during the very few breaks inhave
Arc looks weird to me, itās not full screen. Are you getting the same result? It basically looks like the same format as on my phone. Itās not full screen.
Yeah phone apps look like a phone floating on an iPad screen. Itās an iOS thing.
