I am shopping for an upgrade to a measly power strip for my system. I’m looking at the p12 or possibly a used p10. The p12 is above my budget but still a possibility, have found used p10’s available within my budget. The p3 won’t handle the load of my system and so out of the running. Am I safe to buy a used p10? Can it be overhauled to bring it into spec?
Those of you with knowledge of these products can you give me some of your experience and expertise.
A used P10 is a great purchase. I would just verify the outgoing power THD is roughly one-tenth of incoming power THD. This demonstrates the unit is working.
PS Audio is happy to take a look at a unit and verify it is working properly.
I bought a 6 month old P10 about 2 years ago. It’s been flawless. There were many available when the P20 came out. I would not hesitate to do it again if needed.
My P20 is on a stand, 2" off the floor, behind my rack. If I feel the need to see the display, I walk to the side of the rack, but it can’t be seen from the front.
I ordered a P15 from my local distributor. It should arrive in October and take home in a well-ventilated space in my robust equipment rack. Should I observe minimum distance from other equipment such as Stellar Phono preamp, BHK preamp, DirectStream DAC, or the turntable?
Welcome! I’m not Paul, but I don’t think you should worry about proximity . . . five or six inches would probably be more than sufficient for ventilation, that’s how my P15 is situated.
Thank you. I have accounted for proper ventilation all around. However, more than heat, I do worry about electro-magnetic fields when it comes to low output MC cartridges, and their phono stage.
