WARNING don’t do this --> AUG2018 this is not perfectly plug & play. Necessary to trim some things down to get the case to close and remove the front LED panel – mention in a buried post, but some people are doing this now. I’ll try to do a write up / video.
Has anyone tried or listened to the new Icepower 300asc modules? They are drop in replacements for the 200asc (these are in the Trio)
I ordered a pair to give it a try, I have the Trio with Cullen upgrades.
Also looks like the 300asc measure better (distortion, idle noise, dynamic range, top/bottom frequency extension), in addition to just more output power.
Interesting, particularly so as I have a Trio C100 and always figure that too much power is still not enough. Proof of this is my computer desktop system that has a GCC-500 feeding a pair of Magnepan MMG.
I have been wondering about the status of this project. I just have not gotten around to hunting down this thread to ask. I wonder if part of the more effortless sound is the increased power / headroom of the new modules. I am thinking that if this continues to work well for you that I might do the same to my C-100 when I have the money to do so. Of course, at the rate that I am going at the moment, they may have anothr one or two major updates to these modules by the time that I can do it.

It’s so cool when friends jaws drop & they know it’s that tiny trio something about a small system that sounds so musical & so big I really like, you don’t expect much out of it, and it’s big/complete even at the lowest volume!
But yeah, waiting might give you a refined rev. of the ice module.
And it’s not perfectly plug & play. Plan on editing down these boring videos & showing the final part (had to trim some things down to get the case to close but end result is worth it)
Scott, I bought one of these last year and have never looked back. If you are doing this kind of work this will speed you up. The extra heat will get things done with less risk of overheating your boards and the speed alone is worth the price. The smoke suction is also nice!
Hehe… that’s how I imagine your newly modified Trio. Many of us who were little punks in the late 60’s and early 70’s remember Ed “Big Daddy” Roth with fondness. There was nothing subtle about him or his artwork.
