I have my Rose 150B audio out currently connected in two ways:
(a) Directly to my BHK Pre XLR balanced (obviously using the Rose’s DAC); and
(b) To my DS MKII XLR using the DS DAC.
To my ears, the same music sound vastly superior via my DMP than any of the above. Even when ripped, downloaded in .FLAC or .DSD format and cut to DVD.
I have unfortunately installed my Rose on the other side of my listening room, using long interconnects. But now I pick up remarks here and there referring to the quality of the MkII USB input. And I’m beginning to wonder if it’ll be perhaps worth while to move the Rose to my stack using the USB input on the MkII.
I have pretty much the same set up using AudioQuest Coffee USB from the Rose 150B to the MKII and then XLRs from the MKII into the BHK Pre. Having performed A/B testing when I initially received the MKII and after break in, I found the MKII provides a higher fidelity of sound although the Rose 150B is very pleasing, just not as revealing or musical as the MKII. The Rose sits on top with the MKII right below on the component stand. The BHK Pre is on a parallel stand on top next to the Rose 150B. Good luck with your decision.
