I hooked up a new Cambridge mxn10 streamer to my first version Sprout but it (Spotify) is only playing through the phono selector. Do I need to use the digital input/output? Love music but not technically inclined as if you couldn’t tell.
Can you add a couple of pictures of the backs of the Sprout and MNX10 showing where the cables are plugged in?
You’ve connected the line out of the streamer to the phono inputs of the sprout. That will sound terrible and probably distorted. Just connect the coax out of the streamer to the digital coax input of the Sprout. That should sound a lot better and you’ll hear the streamer when you select “digital” on the Sprout ![]()
That’s what I suspected! Thank you very much!
You’ll likely need a different cable. The digital coax output of the streamer and input of the Sprout use the same size and type of RCA connectors as the analog connections you are currently using. Your current cables will fit, but the cables are different.
I can’t explain the differences but I’d suggest contacting our friends at Bluejeans cable to spec out the correct Coaxial S/PDIF cable.
Yes, I figured that out last night. And I settled on Bluejean Cables before you even suggested them! Many thanks.
