Welll after giving it a lot of thought I actually decided to go in a completely different direction. The biggest hole in my set up was a good DAC so I ordered a LTA aero to go along with my hifi rose. Not a fan of the Sabre chip in the rose. Too bright for my liking.

Good choice.

Speakers aside, nothing has boosted the performance of my system more than adding a great DAC (modified DS Sr. in my case).

Congrats.

This forum rarely mentions McIntosh…

Blue meters are cool. Mcintosh is brought up from time to time. One of the forum members has the 1.25kw monoblocks, if I remember correctly.

Well I couldn’t resist. I got a pair of m1200s with the refurb sale about a month ago. As luck would have it I herniated a disc in my back 2 days before delivery and I just hooked them up last night ( which was still a little uncomfortable to be honest )
I listened for only an hour so I obviously need more time with them. Very preliminary initial impressions are that they are fantastic at the bottom end and very transparent. I’ve heard more details in my music than before. Compared to my decware amp however the decware has a much more warm sweeter middle range. I am not sure yet if these are keepers. They both excel at things that the other one is not as good at. It’s like going to two very good pizza parlors each with their own unique flavors.
