I was curious about that and figured as much since Edgar likes the mac stuff so much. But it is still likely a mini using the intel i5 processor chip. Likely ADIO has a better power supply. Too bad you can’t just take off the cover and replace the logic board out of the new M based processor mini by stripping it. There is likely software hand shakes that need addressed and reloads to a SSD. Are they selling new ADIO with latest processors yet, since Edgar indicated you could upgrade yours by sending it back?
I fully agree. Labor Day sales had a M2 Mac Mini with plenty of Memory for $519. I could swap that in and enjoy what you have been enjoying right now. Oh yeah, I don’t know how they open the adio. The case seems to be cast with no joints or seams other than the rear panel. Maybe it is a pull out from the rear kinda thing. I kinda feel like trying to open it up.
I stand corrected with the title!
Bad is way cool, and a must listen with BACCH
I am on 13.5.1. The upgrade turns off BACCH rights to “update or delete other applications”, which means that BACCH will not open. This can be fixed by turning the rights back on via Applications, BACCH, App Management, Allow…
Note: This probably should be in main thread.
Thanks
I played a few different versions of Bad on my system today. First playing an ancient rip of a now even more ancient 1980s CD, I believe I heard the effects you mention. Funnily, when turning off BACCH, it was more straight forward with simple linear movement from one speaker to the other and back.
What was weird though for me was that the main lead vocal track seemed volume-reduced with BACCH on. Some backing vocal tracks seemed louder.
The 2012 remaster did not have this problem though. Normally I do not like the remasters because, although the vocals are usually tweaked to come across clearer, the music gets compressed.
This got me worried for a moment. So I put on some of my usual fare and was quite relieved when it sounded just fine in the usual formats!
@vmax I did not get to Whole Lotta Love today though, as had DSD256 tape transfers of Station to Station and Young Americans to audition. But will get to the Led Zep. I am sure I know which part you mean. Am curious too if the effect was reproduced on the Vanessa Fernandez, “Rock Out” cover version as well with Tim Pierce on guitar.
Hush!
This might be the single best song I have found in a few months.
It’s organic, no pesticides.
Fantastic Album!
(Not sure about the remixes, hmmmmm)
This is fun though!
Can’t seem to find Hush on Qobuz
I guess it’s good to have Tidal after all. Great album, maybe Amazon?
(Not on Bandcamp, hmmmmm.)
$50 on Amazon, just found one on Discogs for $22 shipped from Poland. Yikes. It’s good though, really good. (Except those remixes)
it’s on Qobuz
Al spouting of angrily when he should know better.
I am sad at my behavior.
I searched Qobuz for the album related to your pic re Honey White (search term honey white)
