Always wonder why Phil Collins drums beats from the CD playback are so “real”. Never know this till yesterday - it was a recording mishap.

A good brief history on gated reverb. I’d call it a “happy accident” rather than “a mishap” though. Nowadays, the YouTube Kids would call it a studio “trick”. As in, “What’s the trick to doing such and such a sound? I have about 20 seconds of attention span to devote to this”. Studio tricks rarely become quite so huge of a thing though. Un-Subtle was the 80’s pop sound all over😝. I SO wish folks would learn to pronounce Padgham, though (middle is as in the word “badge”).
