Moral of the story - never annoy songwriters - you’ll never hear the last of it!

So - at least once a year I come around to listening to some Steve Hillage.

His music ranges from ethereal beauty to dreadful cringe, and don’t be listening to the lyrics.
Or most of the singing.

Nevertheless he is one of very few “rock” ish guitarists who are consistently cheerful in their musical output, with mostly-major solos, and Major7th chords to the max.

This usually culminates in giving “Green” a proper listen.

It’s a wonderful album, and probably his peak (in his early, pre-dance beats incarnation).
Full of his signature cheerful guitar solos and upbeat songs.

Side 2 is real a musical workout, mostly mixed in one pass on the mixing desk by the sounds of it (just the one edit leading into the last track), and it is easy to get distracted by the dazzlingly bright and trebly and hugely entertaining guitar solos.
But that is to miss the best bits - the supporting details of acoustic guitar riffs, layers of sequencer lines, funky bass and drums, and of course all those twinkly bits.
Highly recommended if you don’t know it, but for goodness sake ignore the lyrics

Qobuz sourced…

[Post Script: Lots of energy; some great, classic JB moments (he displays all of his schtick) – must have been an incredible live performance. Unfortunately, I did not find the recording to translate consistently to “excellent” sound in my listening room - kind of hit and miss. Still and all, a really enjoyable live recording.]

I skipped around but I liked what I heard.
