New on Qobuz. CD. Modern Composers. I don’t like modern composers. Early instruments. I don’t like early instruments. I had to see what this album was like even though it seemed like a recipe for disaster. Initially my misgivings were unfounded. There was no raspiness, and the sound was a combination of Jazz and Ambient with a touch of the Middle East. Interesting listening. As the composers and the ensembles changed the music became increasingly experimental. It never quite plumbed the depths of ‘The Leningrad Concertos’ but it certainly wasn’t any fun. I was far from sorry when the album finished. You get extra marks if you can work out who was playing what and by whom.

21 degrees F this morning and a gale warning for tonight and tomorrow. Might be a good day to stay inside and listen to music

Qobuz. CD. As usual after suffering modern works, I treated myself to a dip into my favourites. I first posted this album in March. Light, melodious, well performed with good sound. If you like late Elizabethan airs and galliards this is a must.

Acquaint or reacquaint yourself with this album from the 70s to hear the sound of early instruments. Presently - I cannot locate my LPs by David Munrow, albums bought in the mid 70s - which isn’t surprising considering I have thousands of LPs. David Munrow’s erudition and wisdom as heard on the LP albums has been edited out of the CDs, which spoiled it for me, when I listened to the CDs on a friends system. I always found the albums to be pleasant but more educational, but I dare say, you would find fault with them - not liking early instruments being the main one. The music is either too old or too modern for your taste. :slightly_smiling_face: It must be nigh impossible to buy you SACD’s or CDs for a Christmas gift.

I don’t know what this will lead to, the wife has found an online auction house located in Bristol, TN about 20 miles from us…She mentioned boxes of LPs on the pre-view.,

Nice. I am not a stick and ball fan but the Majors are always interesting to keep track of.
My lifelong close friend is a very serious and technical golfer so I can appreciate the sport thru his eyes. Any top level sporting event has to be appreciated for the collection of talent and dedication to the cause.

I’ve played some sort of sports all my life, football, baseball, tennis and others, but at 67 years old I can still keep playing golf till I croak. :joy:
