I just love the album jacket…
Indeed, a good one… And an MPS recording, to boot.
Once in a lifetime talent, Gillian Welch
24/192 LPCM stereo Blu-ray edition, spinning on my OPPO UDP-205. Not an audiophile-grade recording, but the ragged yet rocking performances make it worth owning.
Some fairly intense piano playing by Don Pullen, with Fred Hopkins (Chicago Avant Garde Trio Air), Chico Freeman (Chicago Avant Garde Sax) , and Bobby Battle.
Qobuz. 16/44/1. First step, when I had some time, was to play another album of similar Geminiani music. No problem with this. Sounded fine. Next I shall try a matching album from Concerto Koln.
In spite of my DSD measuring poorly, other thread, this sure sounds nice through it. Guess I’ll keep it after all.
Think this won a Grammy, regardless, great modern Bluegrass. Del and his clan are one of a bunch of great modern Bluegrass outfits. Nice sounding modern recording too with some dynamics left.
I’ve seen Del on two different occasions, both shows were very good.
