I suspect that most posts here are of music which is notable or well liked. I follow a slightly different ‘strategy’. I search Qobuz for Baroque music, and post a proportion of what I decide to listen to. In the beginning these were pretty well known albums, but after over a year I have plucked a lot of the low lying fruit and am coming up with increasingly obscure items. This is one of them. Not exceptional, but pleasant enough to listen to in its entirety.
In my case I don’t use streaming services and am playing discs in my collection.
This morning so far:
Rahsaan Roland Kirk “Now Please Don’t You Cry Beautiful Edith” Verve Universal Japan cd
Followed by Chet Baker “Peace” Enja/Solid Records Japan cd
this is an expensive thread for me. If i see something of interest i don’t own, and if it’s not available on tidal/qobuz, my first stop is either HDTracks or Discogs.
Love Keb’. Do you have his newer album “Blues Americana”? Also really great.
Thelonious Monk “The London Collection–the Complete Last Recordings” Japan 2 cd set, disc 2 (Trio material)
Can never get enough of Mr Knopfler (and Emmylou too). I have to say with the BHK preamp and direct stream DAC my collection has really taken on a new life. Detail and pure pleasure with the best recordings causing lots of dropping of the jaw.
Just joined Vinyl Me, Please. Thanks for the tip.
Listening to Helge Lien Trio CD “Natsukashii” right now. Fantastic recording with lots of dynamics.
Do you have her album “Afterglow”? That’s a tour de force in terms of recording and vocal prowess. Highly recommend that one.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it, I’ve been there a year and have got some amazing records! The classics track in particular is some hot fire!
Really enjoying Jon Langford’s band Mekons. Also check out his project called The Waco Brothers. Electric Waco Chair and Freedom and Weep are my favorites.
One of my kids is over tonight . . . . They usually take over the choice of music when they visit.
Even if you’re not a big fan of John Popper and company this recording is “stupid good”.
