The praise this recording is getting from all the internet classical reviewers is deserved. This is not one of my favorite Mahler symphonies but it is certainly put in its best light here.

First off today I listened to the first disc of Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” Columbia 2 LP set, the copy that I bought in '72 and have played over and over. Still sounds great, I have great reverence for this material and have taken care of the LPs over the years.
Next up was the very interesting Bill Barron cd on Muse, “The Next Plateau.”
And playing now is “Inverse Universe” by Claudia Villa and Ricardo Peixoto. Very nice indeed.
always loved this album. Guitar solo on “Avatar” I worked up years ago, and I think I still remember every damned note.
Now, a new addition to my collection. I don’t have many Mosaic LP sets, but plucked this one off eBay at a great price and though I have the music elsewhere (digital mainly) I know that the LPs of earlier jazz music sound so good I couldn’t resist. Disc I, the Edmond Hall session with Charlie Christian.
“The Complete Edmond Hall/James P. Johnson/Sidney DeParis/Vic Dickenson Blue Note Sessions” Mosaic Records 6 LP set
Seeing @Dirk and @terzinator exchange about Dire Straits, I pulled this SACD/SHM CD off my shelf this morning for a listen. The first three Dire Straits albums on these Japanese SACD/SHM releases are superior to all CD and vinyl versions I’ve heard so far. It’s like having Dire Straits live in my living room.
Another album by Romanesca / Manze. Marini was new to me, but he seems to have been an imaginative and innovative composer.
Searching further, I found this choral album, and was surprised by the excellent sound quality. Puzzled about the anatomical consistency on the left of the cover.
Great.
I don’t currently have a CD player (just rip CDs on mac), so this makes me think I want an SACD player.
I have a friend with a Sony Playstation who “liberates” SACDs for me because I too no longer have an optical disc player.
