What Are You Spinning Right Now? (Mk. 2)

Since my friend John was crazy about Jazz, we visited Stampen most weekends from Nov 76 to Feb 79. Guess we missed those recordings. I do a lot for friendship, since I was never keen on Jazz.

You’re a good man.

Vern - HD Tracks has all the sets and up to 24/352… a great selection.

Vern - that site is like crack, I visit it infrequently… I just bought 10 albums… also like the pro studio and blue coast… my wife said thanks for turning me on to the sites…:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

After adding the Matrix, BHK300s, and SPTPCs cables; back to my true love - smooth jazz and Brian Simpson with the boys sounds so yummy this morning with coffee, on my FRI off, wife in the yard and slamming the beat… it just does not get any better… thanks Galen and Ted for all the heavy lifting…

Richard - Once she sees the CC bill for all of that music I am going to have to change my address and phone number.

Vern - I got the “old dude, get out of jail free card” for a few more months…

Vern - one good thing about becoming old in a few months is the number of excuses I now have… senior moment, hearing loss, physical ailments… man this is a good gig… I can fake hear loss when I don’t care about what the other person is saying… I can pretend it’s a new fangled gadget (I was born in another century) when some salesman is trying to sell me crap I know is crap. In short, I get a pass that I am going to play a lot… I can play the crusty old dude card when I don’t want to be bothered with stuff…

Yeah. Wait another 4 or 5 years and you wont have to fake as many of the old dude traits.

Vern - I have been so depressed lately and I think I’m going to turn that frown up side down as my Grandpa (other century) use to say… I see advantages to the crusty old dude syndrome…

These pawn shop jazz recordings were exceptional. Besides the musicality part, a good demo for your system. So much air and liveness.

@RedRiver - did you get the very hi res 24/352 or lower res and if so different sampling rates did it make a difference? HD Tracks has the very hi res sampling.

I’m not a big fan of traditional or improvisational jazz; however, I love to listen from time to time as I like to listen to classical once in a while. I don’t dislike either, I just prefer one over another. I listen to many recordings of many different types of music. I endure countless comments from my wife about “listening to that crap”…

She’s a powerful conductor and I hope we’ll see numerous recordings released in the future.

Richard - Although I haven’t listened yet I got DSD 2.8 files from PSM. Just an FYI

Vern - very cool, thanks… yeah, I might have went DSD… good input. They crank the price with each jump in resolution and you don’t know how much better it will be in your system till you bought both. At close to double the price is it worth going from 24/48 to 24/352 where you could buy 2 albums and every resolution sounds great on the DSD… this is a tough call…

Whenever they offer all the resolution choices my OCD takes over and I go into analysis paralysis. Back and forth, forth and back, check the box, uncheck the box, ad infinitum.:exploding_head:

Music From Big Pink & The Band back2 back MFSL SACD’s. Phenomenal Re-Issues (to my ears anyways). One of our greatest Canadian Exports (cause Levon Helm is an honourary Canuck to us).
