What Are You Spinning Right Now? (Mk. 2)

@Dirk I have never seen anyone with as much musical knowledge or as wide of a collection as you have. Kristofferson is a seldom seen favorite of mine who’s music fought to change traditional country music and helped make modern country music as wildly popular as it has become world wide. I have added a lot to my collection from participating in this thread. Keep 'em coming.

Many thanks. If you like Kris Kristofferson’s song writing you should check out Mickey Newbury. Newbury had a great singing voice and he was a big inspiration for the likes of Kris, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, etc. ‘even Elvis’, ‘An American Trilogy’. Admittedly - it’s basically just a medley of Dixie, The battle hymn of the republic & All my trials.

My favourite Newbury songs; San Francisco Mable Joy and Frisco Depot, etc. Newbury was also one of the first to use sound effects – the sound of thunder, lightning, heavy rain and the sound of trains, etc… Definitely one of my favourite artists…but then again I have many favourites!

I never heard of him either. I found American Trilogy on Roon / Tidal and added it to my queue which is between 24 and 48 hours long depending on available listening time here and the new stuff that shows up on the thread to add. One thing often leads to another so sometimes 2 or 3 albums get added from one suggestion. Thanks

Rosie Vela built a home recording studio herself and signed a recording contract with A & M Records. She released her debut album ZAZU in 1986. The entire album was written or co-written by Vela and was produced by Gary Katz. It is also notable for the fact that it included contributions from both Donald Fagen and Walter Becker (two of Vela’s musical heroes) - almost 10 years after they had disbanded their group Steely Dan.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosie_Vela#cite_note-5) Though the album was critically acclaimed, it went largely unnoticed in the U.S. It fared better in Europe and a single from the album Magic Smile was a Top 30 Hit in the UK singles chart .The album itself peaked at #20 in the UK Album Chart.

Nothing on Roon / Tidal for her. I’ll have to look at Amazon or the used music store. It looks like she may have been with ELO for a recording?

Boom. Amazon is your friend. $12.01 plus free Prime shipping. It will be here in two days.

Assuming you like her music! I can’t guarantee that

“Roy’s Bluz,” CD2, Track 4, from the late show . . . a serious candidate for the most face-melting blues guitar solo of all time!

New on Qobuz. 24/176.4. A collection of short pieces, predominantly from 16th century composers. Varied and lively, with a good sound. Conducted by Giovanni Antonini. Sorry about the small picture - best I could find.
