Find me a better song than “Tight Like This”…you’ll be looking a while.
Their first album after dropping ‘Jazz’ from their name is fantastic.
This is a CD which I bought at a concert a fortnight ago as part of the London Festival of Baroque Music, once again to support the artists, although I prefer to stream it at 24/96. I wish a recording was available of the concert itself, which was called Versailles and had pieces from a number of composers of that era, including Marais. In particular they had a young Cypriot coloratura soprano, Theodora Raftis, who not only had a fine voice but considerable dramatic presence. When she was fulminating about Aeneas you could feel the dagger being plunged into your heart!
Lonson first posted a disc in this series. They are all uniformity great sounding.
Great sounding 24/192 Qobuz stream of the originally in 1968 released second Canned Heat album with my favorite ‘On the road again’ and ‘Fried Hockey Boogie’
Disc 15. Roger Miller, George Jones, and more…
Thanks for posting this. Added to the collection. I’m old school so had to buy the CD.
Sorry Alice. If ya ain’t got the groove, ya ain’t got nuthin.
Freddie Hubbard “The Hub of Hubbard” MPS CD
My grandson was over this evening. He is a sweetheart. Just left so I’m going right for something great. Dinah Washington at the peak of her powers.
