What are you spinning right now?

Take a look at this;
Qobuz in the USA

A wonderful recording! Earbuds and MP3 are good enough to really appreciate it.

A great quartet on another wonderful ECM recording.

I’ve been on a J.J. Cale kick along with JB Radio 2, not related.

Dig it, new this week, awesome bass work - sorry to say, the recording is terrible, levels clipped or mashed somehow badly.

I have a feeling this album may have been posted before, but it is very good, and it is what I am listening to at the moment … 24/96

Yeah, I mentioned a while back that I counted it among my top 3 favorite releases of 2017.

It’s very good indeed. Glad to see someone else here appreciates it.

I have a feeling this one has not been posted before and is not in any of my usual genres but I’ve enjoyed it for unknown reasons along with my morning coffee. Crazy day ahead!

Normally not crazy about organ trios. Hire a bass player, already.SY355

Love Holland’s sound

Production leaves a touch to be desired but it wouldn’t be garage punk any other way

Jonathan?

7 hrs plus! Good thing Justin is still young

Get it - Bieber

Shows you how much I know—not even enough to make a cheesy joke!

Yes, seven CDs.

Would this have been performed through the course of a day or 2 or more?

Just began, nice range throughout the first few bits

The box of recordings is not of a single piece, but of two separate masses and also five CDs of exquisite chamber music featuring violin.

The first mass is Missa Salisburgensis, a huge setting of 53 vocal and instrumental parts (16 separate vocal parts!) which takes advantage of the multiple organs and various locations available for groups of singers and musicians to perform in Salzburg Cathedral, likely for the 1100th anniversary of the founding of the Archbishopric of Salzburg in 1682. The mass is huge, the largest sacred music of the baroque.

The second mass is a requiem.

The violin pieces begin with perhaps his best known work, the Sonatas based on the Mysteries of the Rosary, the Mystery Sonatas. Gorgeous, technically difficult. They feature scordatura tunings (alternate tunings from standard) to achieve certain effects, timbres, etc.

And there is more!

The performances are perhaps the best modern interpreters of the music, the recorded sound is delicious.

Thank you for the backstory. I visited Salzburg in '98, visited Mozart’s house and enjoyed the trip into the ancient salt mine as well as the cathedral. Nice city.
