Maybe I am the only one that does not know what this is by the picture alone.
Please identify.
Buena Vista Social Club
love this album
World Spirituality Classics 1: The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda (Luaka Bop 2017)
An awesome listening experience musically and sonically (and for some, spiritually).
Buena Vista Social Club, a great album, a must have for the Cuban/Latin American part of any collection. I recall (they made a 60 minutes interview, not positive) that Cuba was the center of creative Latin American music in the 1930 to 1960 period. On this album Ry Cooder brought together the best of the remaining artists. They performed at Carnegie Hall.
Too bad the recent fire burned up Alice’s ashram!

Back to this one. Sound is very good.
Donald Byrd “Blackjack” Blute Note (Toshiba Japan 24bit 1500 series cd)
Disc 3, John Coltrane “1963: New Directions”
Adele meets Norah Jones. That’s how I can describe her soulful and powerful voice.
The original recording is in double-rate DSD, which my gear can’t play. Fortunately, Roon automatically down samples it to DSD64.
New on Qobuz. 24/88.2. It is a collection of pieces played according to the prescriptions laid down by Ganassi (I think). Enjoyable, but a bit ‘early’ for my current taste.
I’m always so happy when I’m traveling for pleasure. This preparing for Paris with my sweet, French speaking Italian fiance’.
Ps–Madeleine is excellent and Jon Herington too.
That has a nice sounding ring to it!!!
I may have posted this before, but I am re-visiting William Lawes at the moment. Stil my favorite English baroque composer.
Brilliant, brilliant stuff on those two discs. Lawes is indeed one of the greatest 17th century composers and that’s saying something considering how packed that century was with musical innovators.
