Tower, Discount, Rose, Record Service, and DiVinyl Madness, all record havens in their day. Fed my musical curiosity in a non-trad manner.
I have plenty of examples of these 2 symphonies in DSD64. But I could not resist downloading these 2 live recordings from Bert van der Wolfâs Spirit of the Turtle website.
Wonderful music and equally wonderful recordings. Highly recommended
These live recordings are part of a series television productions, where I was responsible for the artistic producing and main audio technique. These productions were initially for the streaming services of Takt-1 and the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK.
The audio recordings were made with the use of HQ|NORTHSTARâs HQMM principle in full 5.1 surround sound and are constructed with material form initial rehearsals and live performances, with as overall basis the concert on the 30th of September 2022 in the Stavanger Concert hall.
Technical facilities were supplied by the NRK, with the legendary Per Revnaas as chief engineer.

I found this interesting SACD collection of contemporary music at Berkshire Record Outlet recently. Listening to disc five now.
Franck Bedrossian (b.1971): orchestral and ensemble works
Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Duo Links, IRCAM - Centre Pompidou, SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg, Klangforum Wien, Alejo Pérez, Emilio Pomà rico
The RR Fresh recordings usually have a worse sound quality (not only in soundstaging) than the RR recordings from K. Johnsson. Here the distribution of the solo piano sound on the soundstage is odd, but the piano sound itself is very good!
Violin Sonatas by Peter Racine Fricker , Alan Rawsthorne and Ralph Vaughan Williams
Suzanne Stanzeleit, violin
Julian Jacobson, piano
Besides Horowitz probably my next favorite pianist., itâs always special to hear him. Very lively.
He was massive back in the day, I remember hearing him play a complete Mozart piano concerto cycle and his Chopin Ballades recording in the late 1980s was hugely popular. Last heard him about 5 years ago at the Barbican, playing early Romantics, not an ideal venue and not full due to crazy pricing. More recently his Bach has won new (and old) fans. Hugely versatile, this must be a good one, Snape Maltings being such a great venue. Itâs lovely in the summer, we were there last year, not this summer as the weather is terrible! Have to get my raincoat out in August to go out tonight (theatre, not music - Joseph Feinnes in a play about football - apparently itâs an examination of our national culture).
Interesting, thanks! As Horowitz, he transports emotions in a special way for me. Another pianist transporting this, whoâs not that well regarded I guess and whoâs maybe in danger to be seen as âjust another pretty girl playing pianoâ, for me is (but not in the same league) Helene Grimaud. I might be alone with this.
More in the league of the other two as female pianist, transporting emotions well, for me is Maria Joao Pires.

I only have one album of Grimaudâs, and thatâs her Credo disc, with works by Beethoven, Corigliano, and, for the title piece, PĂ€rt. I enjoy her playing on that collection a lot. I need to look into more of her work.
