What Do You Think Of McIntosh?

I get it too because my Decware components become like family members.

I have a little decware phono switch coming. It’ll be my first thing from decware. Pumped!

One of my closest friends in our hifi group commented on how “cute” it is when he first saw my Decware amp.
Then when he heard it (he has Boulder monoblocks) his comment was “holy sh###t!”.
I love the little squirt.

Hi daeone…

McIntosh amps are a gorgeous work of art!! No two ifs and or buts
about it…and hold their value with great pride of ownership.

For me though Parasound offers class A/AB in its operation.
My former A21 was class A/AB. After 5 years of exemplary
faultless performance…I traded in and received great value
toward my new JC5…

John Curl distilled the essence of 2 JC1+s into 1 chassis,
called the JC5 and truly is an amazing amp. My system
has gone to a whole new level of excellence.

The liquid smooth, yet very detailed from the minutest perceptible
nuance even in the midst of fff fortes to the quietest passages.
The holographic image that spreads out across the acoustical
landscape is stunningly captivating. Long hours of listening
never tiresome.

This is what I was after when choosing my new JC5…
and am very well pleased with it’s performance.

The new JC1+ is significantly better than the it’s predecesor.

Coming from an old school of build your own tubed heathkit
and knowing the glorious sound these were capable of…
The Parasound amps give me just that…particularly the JC5.

The JC5 has a 110V+ 110v- input power rails that will never sag.

Currently I do have a vintage McIntosh MX 110z which played
flawlessly for many years until it started to loose a channel
(not a tube issue) silently no associated noise just fade away.

This where I acquired my MX110z…but he has closed shop,
and don’t know who to trust in servicing it.

If the BHK had given me an ss alternative to the inputs along
with class A/AB output I might have swung in that direction.

Now to be sure of one very very important thing here is
that without my new P15 my current system’s level of
performance would not be remotely possible…

I really really whole heart whole heartedly advocate for
and support and am very deeply thankful to Paul and the
PS Audio team in creating these exemplary pieces.

I have used PS Audio power equipment for about
24 years…starting with the Quintessence plc and Soloist
then on to P5 then to P12 now P15…
Quintessence and Soloist still pulling duty with big screen tv.
Flawlessly at that…front panel lights up and display is as crisp
as day 1 back in 2006.

Thank you Paul and PS Audio …I love your gear!!

Best wishes to all
Davida

Audio Classics will repair your 110. I use Fort Worth audio in TX to do repairs or overhauls on my vintage 100 to 130 lb amps, not trusting FedEx our UPS having had received smashed electronics from both. Fort Worth audio is a Authorized McIntosh service center. If you repair at Audio Classics ask them to send a box and bill shipping to their corporate account for peace of mind and savings.

Vmax thank you so much for sharing the info…

Trick is who to ship it with when time comes

Audio Classics is a first class operation. My wife is from that part of NY and we stopped in there to check the place out. Shortly after that, I purchased my MAC6700 from them. When they shipped it to me, the box was attached a separate pallet for added protection. They will take great care of your equipment if you need to have repairs done.

This picture was taken several years ago, but they had an awesome setup when I was there. If anyone is looking to purchase a used unit they had a lot of inventory on had. You can check their inventory on their website and call the to discuss any of the items. You can see a few units to the right in the picture that were wrapped in plastic. The unit I purchased was listed as used, but it was NOS in the original box and had never been used. I was very pleased with the deal I got from them at the time. I would not hesitate doing business with them again.

Wow …beautiful picture…a b+m showroom…amazing
thanks again!!

I’ve bought from them a couple times and I agree that they were first rate.

Hi, nice room, nice system

You don’t hear much about MAC turntables, do they manufacture them “in house” or are they made by another turntable manufacturer and re-branded? What arm are you using?

-JP

Thank you.

McIntosh tables are made by Clearaudio in Germany; the tonearm is stock and is made of Dural-Aluminum.

Several nice design features such as the obvious led acrylic platter lighting but also the table floats on opposing magnetic forces as well as antimagnetic antiskating.

The MT5 came with a Sumiko Blue Point MM cartridge, which I upgraded to an Ortofon 2m Black at time of purchase. Not satisfied, I upgraded to the Dynavector 20x2L low output moving coil cartridge which is just terrific!

Thanks again,

Bill

Why?

A great question with little chance for a sound quality or (except some Chinese brands) quality related answer

If I can do anything to keep my neighbors employed, I will. Call me crazy.

You live next door to a HiFi manufacturer?

It would be another interesting discussion which countries are most patriotic (in this case directed towards buying home brands), where this comes from and what that means in terms of evolution (of one’s perspective, one’s overall quality achieved or whatever)…

That’s why I used the example at a previous post…I think Mac customers and Harley customers are among those who buy for that reason to a higher percentage than represented among buyers of other brands…nothing bad about it, just interesting.

I’d say it’s the same with Burmester (which doesn’t have the hottest sh**t status in high end anymore since long) customers in Germany and not so much with buyers of some other German brands (just as an example).
