Yeah. The Oppos are becoming harder to get and dearer with time sadly.
There were some cheap pioneers players which you can rip from too. But these are not usable with the OppoMod boards, unfortunately. I bet that these can be found affordably on the used market.
You can use a used thirty dollar Sony which I use or a Pioneer.
Disclaimer I don’t approve of piracy. If you own the SACD this should be fine for owner use.

I used to have a rule: friends don’t let friends buy Sony. But last year I bought an expensive Sony OLED tv. I hope it last as it is quite good. It allowed me to move away from my Pioneer Kuro which had set a very high bar.
Eleven years ago I bought an expensive Sony LED 40". . . I’ve used it heavily all this time, moved it from Texas to Ohio and then again within Ohio. . . fantastic picture and not one hiccup. I guess I have been lucky. . . I hope it continues for years to come, it’s been a faithful old friend.
Sony are hardly undependable. I’ve used their pro and consumer products all my life without major issues.
Ditto. I have used SONY’s pro and consumer gear for decades and have enjoyed
the industry leading research and product quality. As a former Panasonic pro
employee, I respect good competition.
I’ve got 4 Sony screens. Best picture available IMO.
Sony gets the screen for its OLED tv from LG but then they do their tricks to it. It looks better than an LG to me.
I have a Sony in this room and an LG in that room and the Sony wins easily.
You make your wife watch an LG??!!
I played Kind Of Blue SACD, and iRobot SACD on my DMP today. Pretty damn fantastic.
Dang. I have a BX520. So close.
Hello,
I am new to the group, kindly I would like to know if the pioneer lx500 can be connected to the i2s input of the stellar cell dac
thank you
Hi @ mferri1 and welcome to the forum. While the implementation of I2S which PS Audio and some other high-end DAC and transport manufacturers makes use of an HDMI cable and connectors- It does not conform to the HDMI standard in any other fashion. So no, your stock Pioneer’s HDMI output will NOT work with the Stellar’s I2S input despite appearances.
I believe you meant to write "It does not conform . . . "
Doooh!
Save yourself a Ton of money going this route.
Sony SCD-XA5400ES SACD/CD Player in system for over a decade. Works flawlessly & still sounds fabulous.
No. Though there may be a modification that will allow it.
