Which Redbook CD did I enjoy lately?

Hurqualia / Hymnos / Chukrum

Gordon, I recommend you listen to Giacinto Scelsi. I think you would appreciate what he is up to. Hymnos is a bit easier of an entre than Hurqualia, but all of his work is a bit challenging.

Disc 5. I love these performances.

Yes! Well regarded and deservedly so.

A classic of fun brass quintet performance. Many of the pieces on this album are now standards of the repertoire - great crowd pleasers.

Thank you. I have been accused of being like Mike who will eat anything.

Right now, the fascinating new deliberate remake of “Kind of Blue.” A very interesting listen!

Columbia SACD, Redbook layer (testing out the Redbook audio quality on the used Denon DVD-A1UDCI that arrived this week).

I missed this one, and I’ve tried to get all the Jobim I can over the decades. A compilation of tunes by others that he did for the Brazilian “Songbook” series. So nice and mellow.

Newly released Sony reissue

From the Complete RCA Recordings box set.

I have the same RCA recordings set. Amazing stuff at a great price.

Agreed! Great remastered sound as well.

Right now, hadn’t heard this in a long while. Prefer their later albums, but I’ve enjoyed revisiting this one.

The first disc of the excellent Horowitz Original Jacket Collection box set. Old recordings, but sounding excellent.

Now onto the second disc of the Horowitz Original Jacked Collection box set.

Sounds so so good. Both layers. But since my DS is still not here I'm listening to SACD.

I love Roberts, and this album has such great arrangements for a piano trio. Plus all three are excellent players and musical thinkers.
