Just put on Apostrophe (’). Can’t get enough of those funky grooves and Zappa’s clever lyrics
“Lumpy Gravy & Elsewhere” bootleg.
I like the tracks I have heard while streaming, enough that I will purchase a physical copy – especially at its current price!
Good to know, and a great price. My understanding is it carries on from Hot Rats.
From the notes included with the Zappateers seed of this show:
“Really good show at a rather infamous venue in Milan: this is where Led Zeppelin played in 1971 their only concert in Italy, which ended up in a bad riot, and Santana in 1977 where someone threw a molotov at him on stage, prompting Italy to be banned by many tour mangers until 79/80. Luckily, nothing wrong happened at this show: the band played great, the setlist is excellent, the audience behaved well and whoever taped this captured it on one of the finest audience recordings of the era.”
Frank Zappa performs on two cuts (“Love” and “Old Slippers”) on this seminal 1974 fusion album under the pseudonym, “Obdewl’l X.” The album is essential for fans of early/mid-1970’s fusion, and the two Zappa guitar solos are epic (albeit brief). The 2008 CD remaster sounds great.
