You have confirmed what I have pieced together from reviews and two other prior owners. I was really interested in getting one, I like the idea of a stereo amp. I think I will continue my search.

BTW - did you consider the XA30.8?

I WILL buy an XA30.8, my favorite Pass amp.
I bought the XA-25 because it was insanely cheap second hand (I paid $2650., one month old!)
The XA-30.8 has all the dynamics of the .8 amps, like the X250.8, but with the Class A liquid midrange.

How hot do you think the X-25 gets when you are pushing it? Can you put your hand on it?

I’m pretty sure it was Archimedes who said: “I have no idea what Class A is, but I know it will be hot.”
I just put my instant read cooking thermometer on the heat sinks and measured 120F.
I can put my hand on it for 5 or 6 seconds before I pull away.
