Why is rca output for dsd rated at 1.4vrms?

Hi

Would like to find out why is the rca output for the dac is only rated at 1.4? It’s my understanding that based on spec it was suppose to be 2v?

Yes, most CD players put out 2VRMS single ended (and 4VRMS balanced.)

When we were designing the DS we wanted people to be able to upgrade their PWDs - the power supplies available didn’t have the headroom for a 2VRMS output. (Ironically, as it turned out we ended up replacing the power supply boards anyway adding a better transformer.)
