Will the DS MKII ever see more development? Is this something Ted could do on his own as paid updates?

Perhaps it would be helpful if someone that knows him tries, maybe they would get a better response. @sixpack1 maybe you could volunteer?

It is worth a try for sure. My guess is that Ted is committed to another project and perhaps it would seem a conflict of interest to freelance on an old project. I doubt we are going to get any further details of his departure from PS Audio or Ted. It has been left vague for a reason…

Paul said that Ted is working independently on his own DAC, with it unknown who will build and sell it…

I have two DACs running in my audio system. The first is the aforementioned PS Audio Direct Stream DAC Mk II which I have with the PS Audio PST. The other is the Ferrum Wandla Golden Sound DAC. It is amazing because you can change many variables to get the sound you want! The dealer for this DAC is headphones.com The dealer for this DAC offers customers the 365 day return if one decides one want something different. The DAC is less that half the cost of the PS Audio DAC. Also, updates are free and within 2 or 3 months. The DAC is on Recommended Components list for Stereophile. I think people in the market for a high-end DAC should try this DAC. There is no risk to try the DAC! I have no financial interest in this company.

That link is a dead end.

Both links worked for me.

I think this is potentially another way to attempt contact.

Maybe it requires one to have an account on their site. I do not.

As mentioned above, the Wandla is a great dac for the $. Best dealer I found was Juan at Bliss Hifi.

However i also saw 11 PSA products on TMR. Mki and 2s …also decent deals.

Have you tried sending him a private message through this forum?

Did send a message internally. I will see if it gets through.

I saw several Mk2 for sale at TMR but no Mk1’s.

Wow, $849!

That’s a heckuva deal for a great DAC.

Someone upgrading from a mid-level CD/SACD player would be in for a an ear-opening experience.

It is a great price. For quite a while they were twice that. However a lot of those have been for sale for months.

I think the mk ii will be very reasonable on the open market soon.

The dac above is a Perfectwave not a Directstream. It is a good dac but the Directstream Mk1 is nicer. It was the dac before the Directstream.

I imagine the $5,200 - $6,400 MKII prices currently listed on TMR will go down once the model is discontinued. My experience is that a used model from a previous generation quickly goes for around half the retail price, which would then be $4000. And DACs tend to depreciate more quickly then other gear as it is a space of relatively rapid innovation. Agree that people would get a great DAC at that price, many positive comments also on this forum.

My bad. Multiple mkii. No DS mki.

Agreed. Not Gonna drop 5+ on a mkii. They will drop for sure. Especially USAM

Roger.

I doubt I’ll ever sell my upgraded DSD MkI, even if I replace it, I’ll just use it in a second system.
