Will the DS MKII ever see more development? Is this something Ted could do on his own as paid updates?

Ok thanks. Just wondering because it’s still listed on the site. Can’t imagine anyone purcashing it with the knowledge of the new DAC on the horizon.
Any left over stock will probably be sold at a discount over at the Music Room.

I also appreciate most critical voices we see here are respectful and thoughtful.

Yep. TMR will become the Jr. MK I, and II marketplace.

I was hoping the big reveal was the TSS. Now maybe I’ll have to go to another brand, maybe MSB, since I heard something about they may be incorporating a I2S in their system.

I have been tweaking out the PST and MK2 to the point of I couldn’t imagine digital to sound any better than it does now. And with DSD256, it’s almost like listening to my analog rig.

I don’t need another streamer, my Esoteric N-03t is doing just fine. And, I found putting a streamer inside a DAC really compromizes the sound from intensive listening test with the Esoteric N-01XD streamer/Dac. Forget it, separates sounds much cleaner and better.

The only things I did to the MK2 are change the fuse to the M1, put it under a HRS stand, boy, did this stand make the sound even more at ease and more analog like with even more detail than before, and use SR Galileo SX power cords and interconnects for connections.

The MK2 is sounding so good now, I’m going to pass on this PMG Signature Series. I want my next upgrade to a bigger jump in SQ. Not like going from a MK1 to a MK2 type of upgrade.

My PST and MK2 looks and sounds just fine in the racks.

I noticed you are using what looks like Orea footers under your MKll in addition to your stand. Was this just for cosmetics to match your other components or do they help in addition to the stand? I am using footers from Stack Audio and I’m getting great results. What I’m getting at is should I consider your stand as well? Buy the way I agree as far as free standing streamers go. I don’t think I’m going to replace my digital chain anytime soon. Love it as it stands. Think I will be keeping mine for the foreseeable future.

Before the HRS stand, I was using the Orea’s because it sounded much better than the stock feet. I just left it on the MK2 and PST when I got the HRS stand. It does seem to help keep the resonance even lower with Orea’s.

At least you weren’t one of these idiots that spent the extra to have custom transformers installed. Man what fools. :face_with_peeking_eye:

I did those things like the transformers changes on the MK1, you can go only so far with parts changes. To get even more performance, you really have to go to a higher level of Dac altogether. Unfortunately, so will be the price.

I was one of those idiots who spent extra to upgrade the transformer and caps on my DSD MkI instead of upgrading to the now discontinued MkII after its rather short lifespan.
And in retrospect, I feel like anything but a fool.

I too, was disappointed that a flagship DAC (we coined it the TSS) was not brought to light by
PS Audio. We all grow, and PSA grew their product line to include statement products in amplification
(the BHK 600) and speakers (the FR 30). A complimentary “super DAC”, however, did not follow in that tradition.
It was for this reason, that I sought out a DAC alternative after a MK2 DAC purchase. I liked the MK2,
but auditions of other high-end DACs, like MSB, revealed that there was better stuff out there, albeit at a much higher price. Fortunately, the arrival of the Grimm MU2 got me a better sounding DAC and
a no-compromise streamer. My lust for the MSB vanished. I have completed my system trifecta and even got a fourth, a great streamer, to join in the fun.
I make these points to illustrate that the PMG Series 512 DAC could fill that need for a
no-compromise converter, just like the Grimm did, and still play in the big boy DAC camp. And as for the “separates are better” argument, I generally agree. But, as the Grimm has shown, you can get a great streamer and DAC in one chassis, at considerably less dinero.
So, I am very open minded about the PMG Series and hope it will go beyond class expectations.
Whether designed and signed by someone we revere, presented in a stack of separates, or a humble all-in-one, I vote for the one that goes for sonic gold.

Hope it was clear I was being facetious- as I had the transformer upgrade done on my MKII, which I now regret.

Kinda figured

As much as I liked the combo of the Airlens, Mk2, and BHK pre, I am thanking my lucky stars that I decided a couple of months ago to sell those in favor of the Grimm MU2, which I love…

It is discontinued and being replaced by the PMG Signature.

Interesting! I was concerned about this issue also. Paul said that they engineered the new DAC so that it wouldn’t be a problem. Time will tell, when we finally get to listen to the new one.

Thanks, Brian. Just reach out to the sales guys at 800 PSAUDIO and they will take a deposit. Best to get in line because the first batch to ship will go quickly. We have parts for a few hundred in stock but after that, who knows with the tariffs affecting every single aspect of the parts supply chain.

Each country will likely handle this differently.

Maybe PSA could make a DSD Mk 2 110v to 230v conversion kit to improve the supply of Mk2s, that’d be great for me given that I need four dacs.
