Woo Hoo! San Diego 2013 Comic Con Highlight!

OK, Comic Con is NOT an audiophile show, nor an air show (I like airplanes, too). Just lots of comics (where would I put them?) Lots of art (ditto- no space) and toys (especially no room for those) But I get a 4 day pass for free, so I go with the Spousal Unit. (She writes her own comic)

So my wife had gone to grad school with a guy in her screenwriting class who wrote the pilot for the TV show “Helix” being shown on SyFy (gad I hate that name) next season and produced by BSG’s Ron Moore. Figuring the room is going to get swamped by Ron Moore fans we get into the conference room ahead of time for the “Defiance” panel (Julie Benz was so adorable and charming. Just a lovely lady all around). During the “Defiance” panel, Bear McCreary asks a question for the panelists (he composes music for “Defiance,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Walking Dead,” “DaVinci’s Demons,” and “Black Sails” also) and then saunters to the back of the room. No one talks to him.

So I saunter over and, trying not to sound like I’m begging, ask Bear if he could please release the Battlestar Galactica soundtracks in 192/24. He replies 'we’re working on it."

Woo hoo!!

Made my day. In all of 20 seconds of conversation. I just hope they do release it and there’s enough sales to make it worth their while (I know I’d buy 'em all but don’t know if others will or not)

Of course, 192/24 will take back burner to composing for “Defiance,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Walking Dead,” “DaVinci’s Demons,” and “Black Sails” so it may take a few years.

Oh well.
