Great minds think alike!
With the current ongoing sale, I have been eyeing the P12 regenerator to add to my system. Where would it make the most impact? Source equipment (SACD player, DAC, Preamp) or amplifiers (Power amps). Thanks in advance!
It makes the most difference when everything is connected to it! Power amps on the high current outputs, everything else on the separate banks.
Unless the power amp exceeds the P12 max output, then you may need to plug it directly in to the outlet (and that pretty much means a dedicated outlet as the draw is going to be VERY high!)
Unfortunately, it has to be either the source components or the power amps. They are not next to each other.
If it were me, I’d do whaterever I can to get the P15. Lower impedance, higher power, and best of all: fanless!
I wish I could. Funds and space are both limited. Thought the “fanless” feature is quite intriguing.
I just feel that the P15 might be too much just for the source components unless I replace the power amp power cables to longer ones. Hmmm!!
Had 2 P12s on my rack for almost 2 years, they served me well and fans never heard (summer in Italy is not a cold situation!).
P20 I have now brought obviously more in every aspect: control, calm, SQ, blacker background, soundstage… it is simply in another league, but P12s were really good regenerators IME.
Do you plug everything into P20 including streaming gears? One of the reasons I went with Euphony Summus 2 because it is a one box solution since I am running out of room on P15 (never thought that would happen).
Yes Sir! The entire system, Innuos ZENith and PhoenixNET included as well.
Boy, looks like your having quite a ball with your new digital set up! I’m also having a ball on my turntable set up side, with a new Hyperion cartridge, a UEF record mat, and next a new UEF record clamp, and so on…
Wait wait, my 20yo son yesterday spinned an Hendrix LP he had ordered… after almost a week I went back to vinyl rig. Ehm… hats off, all another world.
May I say “sensual” referring to sound? Digital is so beautyful, young and appealing. But analog is sensual, it takes all senses into an explosion of passion. Period.
I could not explain it any better. I totally agree, digital is beautiful, analog is much more emotionally involving!
PHT “dots” on the cart on the clamps?
My dealer gave me a green and black to try, I personally didn’t get much from them
Best,

What is your reaction with the UEF mat? My brother is coming over to see if he likes the mat. He is already sold on the Hyperion cartridge, probably best deal with The Cable Company. I really don’t have that much faith in the UEF clamp though. My Titanium one is hard to beat.
I’m not sure if it meets the hyperbole SR marketing but I think it mitigates the vibration between the record and the platter as well as any other mat I’ve used
A little more clarity and soundstage depth is enhanced to my ears, also seems to reduce static cling over “fabric” and cork mats
It looks badass and I got a great deal, the distributor was in the shop when I happed to be there drinking coffee and chatting. He was talking about the mat and the weight and I was calling BS and he gave me demo for $125
All in all, I like it as much or more than any other mat I’ve used!
I made the same upgrade and really liked the S300 but the M700s are amazing! Wider soundstage and more definition at lower volume.
A lot of people think record clamps are rubbish as well as mats, but I definitely hear a big difference with my Pathe Wings record weight and UEF record mat. As a matter of fact, it’s so easy to do, I just now played a section of 45rpm “Blow Up” Isao Suzuki Trio / Quartet, with the weight on, and then off, and the attack and air is much more palpable with the weight on the platter! The UEF mat also clean up the sound even further with it on the platter also! The record weight and mat adds so much more excitement to the music!
If you have a non air bearing platter, it would make most sense to use an extremely light clamp. You’d then have the positive effect of vibration damping and pressure on the record, but avoid the worst of all implications: more weight on the spindle and therefore more friction/resonance bearing noise which usually strongly hinders airy performance.
The vacuum hold down on my turntable makes my vinyl become one with the 70 pound platter. That has a nice effect. While playing I can turn the vacuum hold off and easily hear the difference. I used to read reviewers say once you have experienced vacuum hold you’ll never want to be without it. I concur.
This goes without saying.
