Thanks, I thought you may have used another streamer before. I somehow remember you use a Rega player, so it seems independent of priority, your digital setup is more expensive;-)
No Rega player, I do have a Rega P8 turntable, as well as a VPI Prime and a Linn LP12.
That’s priority
My dealer said that 4 Rel carbon specials would be better than 2 n25s. He was thinking 4 n25s would be better than 6 specials. Keep me updated on your sub journey. I am picking up the N25s this weekend.
I don’t understand the idea of multiple subs, unless the room is gigantic. Is it more than moving air?
Spacing them out to eliminate room bass peaks and provide uniform bass for listening position. It does make a difference especially with room correction. My mains have four 12s in 7 foot line array config. When I take the two additional 12s stacked in the side surrounds one speaker 5 foot to left the other 10 foot to Right and hook them up as subs too it is a pretty bone jarring experience. But not enough for me to take them from the HT use full time or buy some more dedicated subs. Becomes a space issue. I still think having the LF just in front of me provides a more realistic directional stage experience of a huge drum kit or symphony imaging Timpani spacing when my mains already go flat to 16 Hz. But organ music is way better more distributed drivers.
Welcome to the Jungle. Choose Your Illusion 1 2 or as many as you need!
I just set up the 2x4 of N25s and S812s last night. It’s not dialed in yet, but HOLY S#;+. It’s as if all the sounds are even more holographic. The room seems energized, but I don’t hear excess or uncontrolled bass. Synthetic baselines that once emanated from outside left right seating level now come in as enveloping surround top down left right. Bass is definitely more textured.
@vee I can’t keep up. Did you compare 2 N25s to 4 S812s?
What are your room’s dimensions, WxDxH?
Anybody here ever listen to a set of these? They seem like a bargain for the money.
How much $$ are they ?
$15k new
I’m retired on a fixed income and our definitions of “bargain” are quite different
Thanks anyway.
I’m working, on a fixed income (thanks to my Wife for not letting me run amok), and I think our definitions of “bargain” are probably the same.
It’s crazy how much some loudspeakers are selling for. I always search for the well taken care of preowned and not take a monster hit on depreciation.
Looking at and loving the Tekton Design Double Impact SE for $4200./pair
I’m running all six together right now. I don’t plan to compare 2 to 4 since I’m going to a six pack of 812s. I do wonder if I should just stick to this 2x4 setup since it sounds so good as is.
The room is roughly 12x13 with a vaulted ceiling.
No recommendation, but I just watched a Bob Hunter video on the N25 and the
3 stack have a remote control. If you haven’t looked into, it is very interesting.
Speakers are one thing I’ve never felt the need to upgrade. Still running my ten plus year old sets of Monitor Audio Gold Reference.
Headphones on the other hand……I can’t help myself.
I suspect I’ve had fewer speakers than average (though I admit I don’t know what “average” is in our hobby). In the 43 years I’ve counted myself a member of this club, I’ve only owned 4 sets*.
*I don’t count the various permutations of mass-market Japanese systems I had before I got into the good stuff in 1978.
I am using “bargain” as value for money spent not necessarily a low dollar amount. Most unfortunately for me I can seldom find the stuff that I am looking for on the used market as I assume that most who buy the same pieces seldom if ever sell. I consider that to be a good thing.
