There are quite a few members like it better than Power Plant, and I am looking forward to evaluate it soon! Hopefully I can use both.
Thatâs what I would have expected to be honest, as itâs a relatively small and âordinaryâ power conditioner which should slow down and dynamically soften everything besides probably providing better spacial information and details than without. At least thatâs how conditioners typically sound. But with 1800⏠itâs quite affordable.
For the price I am welling to try, and it is easy to resell it too. Luca and I used to have similar system and he liked it (still like) with PSA setup. I will find out next week.
This is what I had expected as every power conditioner Iâve tried seemed to kill the dynamics. Not this Puritan. I am not sure what Voodoo magic the designer put into this unit. Itâs small, simple, and light compared to the regenerators at much higher cost, but the Puritan surprised me with its detail, spaciousness, and richness. PowerPlant seemed soft and veiled in comparison, although there wasnât a huge gap. I wouldâve been happy with either but, at fraction of the cost, it is such a great unit.
Compared to my P20 the Puritan was a huge step down sound-wise. And if you check out the price differential it is understandable. As I already own both I put the Puritan to excellent use in my home theater setup. It is a nice piece, but it is no P20.
Itâs really odd, and interesting, to see the various feelings on the Puritan. On WBF and Audiocircle (where on the latter Puritan has been discussed for years), many folks feel the 156 is head and shoulders above a Power Plant. I wonder if some of this just comes down to system synergy?
Looking at the basic designs, I canât see how the 156 could outperform or even compete with a Power Plant.
I was on my way for a P20 upgrade from my P15 because with my 2nd streamer, every plug in P15 will be used. Then Luca (as well as others) gave enthusiastic review a few months ago (with his old system like mine) prompted me to try the PSM156. Itâs relatively cheap so why not. It could save me a few $k if it works out in my system.
Al and some others have completely different systems and many are so out of my league, that understandably their experience would be different from mine.
I will give a report on how it does in a mostly PSA system soon.
Feature-wise, of course not. Sound-wise?
What dealers do you recommend based in the USA for the Puritan line?

Puritan PSM156 AND their Ultimate power cord is a great combo. Not far to just try the PSM156 without using their Ultimate cords. They are great, and very easy to work with. This replaced Shunyata Denali 6000s/v2 and Shunyata PCs with this - shocked it bested this at way less $$. I then added Groundmaster city and Routemaster which are well worth the money too. I havent ever tried P20.
Yup, my next upgrade. I heard it today.
Well, no. Outa my price range by a skosh plus ten to the fourth.
Wilson AlexxV, CH Precision monoblocks and line stage and phono stage and a turntable that I couldnât identify.
I canât afford it, but Iâd be happy to have it.
As Al would say, it seemed nice.
Happy Cake Day!
Tanx!
Happy cake day Ron!
Thank you!
Happy cake day, my friend! Hope youâll be able to come down to Tampa for the show. Itâd be great to see you.
Are you going to Axpona? I was thinking of skipping Florida this year.
Yes, I plan to at the moment. Hopefully nothing will stop me from going.
