Am really impressed! Thanks for sharing this step by step system set up, you have my attention.
I think this will probably be no problem. Itās probably not optimal if class A gear heats its heatsinks mutually (but if they donāt run too hot, it seems to work), but what I do know is how this kind of amplifier accumulation between the speakers must cause noise/EMI radiation, influencing the whole soundstage between speakers. But the amps must be placed somewhere and few only know how things sound if this kind of radiation is eliminated. Some also place their powerplant directly there, but I canāt blame anyone, if one didnāt experience differences, he canāt know.
I see multiple locations for fuses. While you are setting up and fine tuning your system, why not throw another variable into the mix! Just kidding, you have enough fun stuff to play with. Enjoy.
At this level, the choice of cabling alone implies an investment of skills and resources greater than those required by my entire system, including the room and infrastructure. A bit like observing the technologies developed in F1 races to understand what common cars will be like in the coming years. Itās not only a question of money, I mean.
Al and Minnesotafats (and a few other here) seem to whiz around on a special circuit while I drive in traffic, itās fascinating to observe what they pay more attention to to better guide our future decisions and priorities. At least as far as Iām concerned, I consider it a valid source of learning and I would like to thank them for sharing their journey with me, over time they have helped me grow⦠and Iām still a novice.
After Taiko
also SR has designed a specific router,
maybe also NA will go soon on this way, due to their attention on streaming process, that brought them to launch a switch with SFP ports (for future products, they are saying)
It seems we need to learn more about the streaming path nowdays.
Iām wondering if an audiophile router, that is intended to separate the system network from the rest of the house network, makes sense in my case. I already have a dedicated fiber internet line, from the external of the house, with a single router providing internet exclusively to my switch PhoneixNET then connected to my Statement server. It means I already have a separate network, dedicated only to my hifi system. That is quite uncommon I know.
@vkennedy61 certainly has a professional opinion on these audiophile routersā¦
Time will tell.
I believe for me the MUON Pro System negates the need to be concerned with such things.
The MUON Pro AND the MU1⦠in your case
@luca.pelliccioli you are overestimating my sterophile knowledge. The reality is I am very fortunate to have a lot of good advisors and knowledge sources from this forum. The reality is when you make a commitment to something like an MBL reference system you get an F1 support team that surrounds youā¦and the only thing you need to drive is the song selection and volume level
Good lad.
Modesty is a virtue of times gone by, a very rare commodity nowadays. Chapeau!
I donāt have an opinion. Never tried one. Can they somehow make audio sound better? On paper, it doesnāt seem like it. But thereās enough people who claim they do. I suppose thatās all that matters. YMMV.
Whoās speaking, the professional or the audiophile? Iām afraid you sometimes encounter some Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde dilemmas when it comes to understanding the idiosyncrasies of digital audio. As for me I take into highly account both of their opinions, indifferently. Thanks for answering.
And about my last question, what do you think? If I already have a dedicated internet line, so no need to separate home network from hifi network, how an audiophile router can help?
I donāt think thereās a way to know without trying.
FedEx told me the Puritan PSM-156 will be here on Friday. I hope itās an improvement so I will be done with generator/conditioner. It seems my LHY SW-6 switch will be here around the same time, along with a few footers that I want to try under the platforms I recently placed under gears (they are improving SQ).
I will not install all of them at the same time, maybe a few hour break among themš
Repeat after me:
I will not install all of them at the same time,
I will not install all of them at the same time,
I will not install all of them at the same time,
I will not install all of them at the same time,
Good advice Iāll start with Puritan 156 first since Luca loves it in his system, but Al said it sucked the life out of his system. It will be interesting to see what it does to mine.
True story
Time is an abstract concept in these cases, I know!
Play at least 10 songs that you know well before installing the second one!
Donāt forget to try the Puritan also feeding only the DAC, just for curiosity.
Enjoy!
Must be the holidays because FedEx has revised the schedule of delivery to Monday. In this case it may be a good thing, unless LHY SW-6 is also delayed. We shall see.
I plan to start with DS MK2 first actually. Compare to AQ Dragon, the Zavfino Silver Dart cord is much stiffer, and there are two I need to bend to fit into Puritan. Even with 1.5m each it will be a task. Dragon is much easier.
My wife is coming back from her Asia trip on next Tuesday, and I hope I can install at least one of the new devices so I will not ruin her good mood.
You will not be disappointed with the Puritan PSM156. I thought it would be a compromise from PSA Power Plant, but it didnāt take long for PSM156 to replace my power plant.
