Still getting familiar (and spoiled;-) with the immaculate sounds and musical secrets revealed by the new gear. Listening without AR Ref 6SE was an absolute no-go using the Directstream dac and this experience made me a firm believer of added value of a good preamp in the system.
So i didn’t bother about going this route with the dCS Vivaldi. Until now. This afternoon i took the plunge and went straight from Vivaldi into AR Ref 160S…
Need some more time, but this could be the winner.
The Pangea XL BeCu receptacle bass has opened or rather come forth
and more apparent with the overall sound stage becoming warmer but
still as lively and detailed…
Alas the me the tweaker has violated the principle of patience.
Couldn’t help myself and just now installed my new Furutech FPX Cu
receptacle.
While not good to do so, I like to anyway…the FPX is warmer initially than
the Pangea but not as “open, airy” or detailed in the highs. Yes it has more
bass initially but the alive vibrancy Furutech’s description has not woken up
yet. Maybe a good expresso is in order…
Being fair though the FPX only has about 1.5 hours of play time. Should open
up and come alive as Furutech claims…
From Furutech’s descriptor:
"The unplated copper reveals none of the characteristics of the rhodium- or gold-plated versions.
It is full of vitality and energy with powerful bass and midrange texture so some people will find this model very interesting indeed.
There is a slight tendency towards brightness in the midrange but the clarity yields a very special vibrancy to the sound.
It sounds very attractive with full-range dynamic music like jazz…”
So now with 3.0 hrs + this FPX Cu receptacle has come alive…alive
I tell you…Man!!
One cup of expresso has this thing jumpin’ n jivin’…
Vibrancy up and down all frequencies. Bass vibrant and very much
there well controlled. Air, presence with instrument I hadn’t hear before…
So far outstsanding…
The album I played was a Strunz and Farah introduced to us by a forum member.
The album “Heat of the Sun”…This is one audiophile gem…
With my new Furutech FPX Cu receptacle…what was a great recording now
is as an sacd hd …(I known it is not coulda fooled me ) . So many touches
on the guitar strings, snaps and pops latin guiro air and spacial 3d rendering is
through the roof crazy good.
Brightness…with this recording no but could easily be…we shall
see as time and other recordings are played.
Alright, I will order a Furutech NCF tomorrow to see what is the big deal. The Oyaide plate/outlet made my system sounding analog now. Very interesting.
My new on the job now about 8 hours has become sweeter with
more bloom blossom while maintaing the vibrancy 3d qualities
I like so much micro and macro …
My new FPX Cu is a performer…
May your Oyaidi spring forth to full on quickly!!!
What kind of oyaid is this? Dave from Zenwave is also a fan of Furutech NCF Rodium. As many plugs and sockets as possible… I will get new NCF sockets for my mono amplifier so that they are the same as the NCF plugs.
Maybe something like that… Or the Furutech booster brace ncf.
It is an Oyaide SWO-XXX outlet, and WPC-Z plate. I really like the look of the plate. But the outlet (I think) makes the mid-range standing out more (great on voices), and treble and bass roll out more. It is like inserting my old tube amps without the warmness.
I plan to keep the plate and switch the outlet to Furutech GTX-NCF. From reviews it may be the best one out there.
I use a metal/carbon/sorbothane column to support the power plug. It makes a great SQ improvement to the system. it probably is doing the same thing as booster brace, if not better.
I also have a Furutech Rodium outlet.
I find the Booster Brace interesting because it has the NCF material and gives the connector a hold. I like the C lock too. There is probably an upgrade kit that only contains the screw connection and can be installed with screws on the existing socket.
The Furutech Booster Brace is made of the NCF material, which has anti-interference and sound-enhancing benefits. Maybe like the tuning rings.
Assembling a harmonious, outstanding audio system in its entirety has never been easy, and AC outlets are just one part of the often-mysterious puzzle that haunts us all. Let patience and love of music guide us through the maze.
