IMO, one would be better served going from 2 to none than 2 to 1. I’m sure there are exceptions. If you don’t need two you more than likely don’t need subs.

@dchang05 Both the Diablo 333 and the BHK 600 sound like fantastic amps, but I made a firm decision several years ago not to buy any equipment I can’t lift without a trip to the emergency room. The quality of Class D amps has improved to the point where they can have the sweet sound of Class A and/or tubes without excessive weight or room-baking heat. We retirees have to know our limits and stick together in our efforts to make “healthy choices” in audio gear.
It’s not an accident, you know, that an amp named after the devil has a 4-ohm rating of 666 watts per channel. Coincidental? I think not!
Excellent point, and exactly what I was thinking not long ago! I have been doing bench press for the last 6 months and have no problem lifting 45 lbs. dumbbells in each hand. Still, that is not over 100 lbs.
When I moved my old speakers (300 lbs. each), I pulled my shoulder so hard, and a tear was created. I was told it would not ever heal. It put me out of golf for three weeks, then luckily, I did not feel any pain afterward (some would live with pain forever).
I also need to convience my wife which will be harder. 
I’ve heard very high end class D amplifiers in the form of MBL mono blocks playing on MBL 101e mk2. Great amps! Great speakers! When the switch was made to the MBL 9011 amplifier the change in sound quality was instant and obvious the 9011 wasn’t warmed up yet but a piano sounded like a real piano with class D it wasn’t close. There are many places when you purchase the send you to the ER heavy amps you describe they will also provide some young bucks with stronger backs to get that equipment in place to prevent any injuries to you or loved ones.
The heat topic you have me on no argument. Luckily my basement never gets over 68 degrees no matter the season.

Oh, this could be a California thing. Many laborers standing at parking lot area looking for handyman type of work (even in winter time).

When I sold my Genesis V speakers, weighing in at 145 pounds each I hired local labor to move them out of the house. At the time $50 seemed like a bargain, and my back appreciates it.
Regarding that lift, it may weigh in significantly more than what one may move.

Paul, I don’t know if you’ve listened to many Class D amps recently, but I’m listening to one right now (Atma-Sphere Class D) that can make a piano sound like a piano.
My next upgrade is going to have to wait. So far this week I am down $60K on the market. $30K today alone. And there are two days left this week. Sigh
This week has been bad for me too, and I have not checked my portfolio yet. Now I don’t want to.
