Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Sorry for jumping in here as I normally do not post. I am from Japan and use a Accuphase A-75. I was the first in Japan who had a pair of FR20. The A-75 drove them easily. So, if you are looking for mono amps, then the Accuphase A-300 are well worth putting them on your list. Audio Union should be able to demo, if they have them available. If you have no time for a demo, please take 5 minutes to look at the Accuphase beauty in real. Please enjoy Japan !

Thank you for letting me know about your experience! We were there last year and had a great vacation. So, we decided to visit Japan again. Hopefully I have time to visit Audio Union.

Donald, should I find myself in Japan I’d try to frequent a few of the Kissa, Jazz Cafe, mentioned in the recent book Tokyo Jazz Joints. Could be a fun family outing.

Nice! I will look into it more. Thanks!

Speaking of Jazz and Japan…this popped up in my YouTube music algorithm a while back. The drummer is 15 and the pianist is 13. Considering their ages, the musicianship is outstanding and the piece is just spot on.

I’ve been living vicariously with the various Forum denizens with their PZs and their Schnerzingers, but my budget in retirement I’m afraid doesn’t responsibly allow for expenditures of that magnitude, though I have been consulting regularly with the kind and helpful folks at Dial-An-Audio-Purchase-Rationalization about upgrading my truly-beloved Fyne F703s to the new F703SPs,

In the interim, I just installed my third Veri-Fi Audio SnubWay high-frequency noise filter ($295, but often discounted), this time in the outlet directly adjacent to the one powering my Xfinity cable modem located in my garage.

Just wow.

While I noticed a positive difference with the first two, which are installed in each of the two 20 amps circuits feeding my system, the impact of the third one in this location was off the charts positive. As we all have learned the hard way, powerline noise is insidious, and it’s negative effects are really only apparent in your system when you take steps to significantly reduce it–backgrounds become darker, revealing much more unforced detail and ambient cues, the soundstage expands in all dimensions, bass becomes tighter, deeper and more textured and on and on.

I am experiencing an improvement of equal-or perhaps even greater-magnitude, than the recent upgrade of my Mk2 with the Blue Sky FPGA load, and right now my butt is glued to the sweet spot just playing song after song, and hey–I have a list of things I needed to get done today!

Highly recommended, and you have thirty days to experiment with it in your system. A no-brainer if there ever was one…

Nice piece. This solidifies the idea that I should treat myself to a Meitner MA3. :joy: The EMM has a higher quality housing, the circuit boards are probably made of ceramic instead of epoxy, some components are said to have tighter tolerances and the power supply is of higher quality. Basically, the relationship is very close. If my crypto portfolio goes through the roof, I would choose the EMM, otherwise the Meitner also seems to be a good choice.

Looking to replace my present integrated amplifier NAD C326BEE in my 2nd system (meant for casual listening). Budget in the sub $2000 range. Paired with Focal bookshelf speakers.

Based on preliminary online research, I have narrowed it down to the following. Interestingly both British brands.

Cambridge Audio CXA81 MKII
Arcam Radia A25.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks

@DuneKidd . Thank you so much for sharing that phenomenal video! Wow, it brought a huge smile to my face. That would be outstanding for an adult performer and even more so at their ages. Incredible! This is what life and living is about, not the bloody wars and strife that the destroyers in the world are hell bent on.

What is amazing is the pianist is, at this moment, attending the Berkley School of Music.
‘What’s really going to bake your noodle’, the drummer did a Zeppelin tune - " Good Times Bad Times", when she was just eight years old. The video was shown to Robert Plant and he was just blown away. She can play ANY type of music, with professionals, and blow them all away. That’s how good she is.

I am constantly amazed at how talent will manifest itself in the most peculiar ways.

Thanks for posting. Amazing talent.
The drummer also covered the drums on Raibow - Kill the King!

Should it be an integrated amplifier or perhaps an all in one? (Cambridge EVO 150,
All-in-One Audiolab Omnia for example). Should a record player be able to be connected? The Cambridge is a good choice. A Marantz , NAD, Audiolab, Rotel would be a good alternative. There is a large selection in this price range.

The Marantz MODEL 40n would have an integrated streamer.

Greetings Andreas

Agree with @weedeewop. Highly recommended to visit one of the Jazz clubs/pubs/cafe where either LPs are played or live jazz is performed.
Look out for Tsuyoshi Yamamoto. He sometimes perform at Tokyo or Yokohama.
Mainly as Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio with Yuji Kagawa (bass) & Hisao Osumi (drums).

That was at “First Jazz & Bar”.
