He most likely ordered before I did, or my order got lost over at TMR
I know I was just kidding.
But I think my order did get lostā¦
Damn TMR!
HRS would of cost me $8k for two amp stands, but I didnāt want to spend so much on a couple of platforms, so instead, I went the cheap route and spend only $2k from Mapleshade to get these specially aged maple ones and MEGA brass feet. Mapleshade claims they tested other hardwoods, metals, concrete, etc⦠and their aged maple sounds better than anything out there.
So how does it sound? Glorious is the word that comes to mind. My brother who helped me put the platforms in place says he never thought a platform can do so much to enhance the sound! The tonality is now more richer, more natural, bolder and a real joy to listen to! The bass performance now is unbelievable! Not only is the wack on the skin much more naturally audible, these monoblocks grip and powers through these Wilsons the like which I have never heard before! My friend told me I have to get monoblocks has made a believer out of me for sure.
With the Magnepan LRS+ connected to the main system, I am less fussy about which tubes are in the CJ preamp, with the least expensive new Electro-Harmonix tubes sounding quite good.
With the much more revealing FR20ās connected, the Philips NOS tubes manufactured in the 1970ās are the clear winner, being less tubey and somehow even more open and neutral at the same time.
+2 on that. Even taking a couple of stereo amps and bridging them has always given benefits to my ears in image and transparency. Starting with a mono design is usually cheaper than doing all the tricks with dual power supplies and faraday cages that great stereo amps need to compete. Those look stunning.
Yes Vmax, once you experience a good set of quality high powered monoblocks, forget it, you just couldnāt go back.
Iāve been happy with TMR in the past. But lately, theyāve been odd.
I first contacted them via email to their ārequest a quoteā address and also directly to Nick, asking about the Reserve cables.
Nick got back to me and told me heās no longer in sales but heāll alert the sales department.
I never heard back.
Steven at The Cable Co. was responsive and got the orders. And I got the cables.
I finally got to test the Ansuz Sortz RCA on the Streamer and Dac, it brings a bit more silence and calm but it decreases the dynamics a bit.
It is more effective than the Furutech Clear Line that I tested but less than replacing the original Nordost cable of the Qkore1 with a Shunyata Omega ground.
Thanks! I have a very good understanding of your comment. As I suspected, these plug-in filters are more effective in some systems than others. I have tried a few of them, and theyāre all doing something, but to a very minor degree. But Sortz is selling more than double (basic model) of the most expensive ones I have tried, so, it needs to be doing some obvious improvements. At this point Iāll try it only if it shows up on the used market.
More about Audience āReserveā power cable:
After approx 36 hours powering up my preamp, I put the Front Row back in.
The Reserve is not about diminishing returns.
Iām definitely trading in the FR HP going to the P20.
I think Iāll try the IC tomorrow.
No comment, lol
(but this is encouraging news)
My recent dealings with TMR left me a little perplexed. The guy I was communicating with would respond with, āI already sent you that!ā When reviewing our correspondence, there was nothing there which would be greeted with āCheck your spam!ā
It got done and Iām happy with the purchase, not so much with the in between interactions.
Similar experience here with Nick at TMR. Odd, I suppose they are too busy to bother. I have a different source for Audience cables and am more than satisfied.
Which type of RCA do you have? The Basic, Supreme or Signature? All sortz ensure better silence. Probably because they reduce noise in the signal floor. The sortz Basic, whether USB, BNC or Lan, make the sound in my system blacker with more contours and contrast. It sounds tidier. Transients gain clarity. The low frequency range is compact, powerful and more controlled. I donāt notice any loss of momentum. The soundstage becomes wider and clearer. The sortz signature Lan and RCA that I have basically do the same positive things as the sortz Basic. In contrast to the Basic, it sounds a little silkier, no less clear but perhaps a little smoother. HF noise can make the sound appear brighter and therefore perhaps more dynamic. I notice less of a tonal change or dynamic change. For me the sortz just make the sound a little clearer. As if I had freshly cleaned the window panes and have a clearer and simpler view. Yes Donald. I also bought at half price. The RRP of the sortz also puts me off. Only the effect and benefit as a plug is the highest so far compared to the others I tested. My next upgrade will probably be a DC filter, as from time to time I can hear a short hum from the transformers of my mono power amplifiers. I was thinking about the IsoTek V5 SYNCRO UNI 16
You donāt have to worry about your digital amplifiers. Digital switching power supplies have no transformer hum; they can be the cause. So when I listen to music, please donāt turn on your switching power supplies or charge your electric car. Photovoltaic inverters, refrigerators or the neighborhood hairdryer can also come into question. Iām hoping a DC filter will solve the hum and increase the lifespan of my components.
Supposedly a system without DC interference should sound more spacious and dynamic because the transformers can work better. Does anyone have any experience or tips?
Greetings Andreas
Do you mean the ground box on your power strip or a ground box on a connection on a component? The grounding box and cable should be in a higher price range.
This is a āsimpleā Ansuz Sortz RCA, it was connected to the cinch digital inputs.
Like you, I find that they are clearly better than the Furutech Clear Line, it brings silence and more clarity. I simply noticed a slight loss of dynamics. Each system reacts differently but at least we noticed the same positive points.
Regarding the Shunyata cable, it is the ground cable that connects my Furutech Vault power strip to the Nordost Qskore1 āgrounding boxā.
In my opinion, a Sortz Basic is the better choice in most situations. I donāt think the extra charge over the signature is necessarily worth it. I canāt notice any loss in dynamics on my Marantz Link 10n. The bass tone in particular sounds even crisper with the Sortz Basic.
You can also try the sortz RCA plug on other inputs or outputs, whether digital or analog.
Some ideas:
- what LAN port are you connecting on your Melco switch with NA Muon Pro and other components?
- What should be highly effective in your environment is a Schnerzinger component guard SCHNERZINGER COMPONENT GUARD STARTER SET | Must have Tuning | Loftsound
And I had a very interesting conversation with a highly trustworthy and experienced HiFi enthusiast I know for ages. I had the chance to talk about wall sockets with him and he has tried nearly all available on the market over the years - including mine I currently use (and have also had about 5 different ones over the years and now a FURUTECH FT-SWS NCF R).
So he said the Schnerzinger outlet is a real game changer and by far the best. Think @luca.pelliccioli already ordered one too or already has some experiences?
And Andreas the Power Grid Protector setting optimization / tweaking might be a good idea as all components connected to your setup will benefit from it.
