I have eight of the same ones, and they used to be under two think MDF platforms, not under the components. For components I like Stack EQ better (they replaced Orea Indigo).
If you hear brighter sound, then changing the metal bearing to ceramic one will help. I use the taller metal columns (replaced all bearings to ceramic balls) under the platforms now and like the sound better, but these metal columns are more expensive.
I have some of these, they are best I find with ceramic bearings (I ordered them with them, had some previously with steel bearings). I find I prefer VooDoo Cable IsoPods and Stack Audio EVO feet, but these are inexpensive and good for some applications.
Not really an upgrade but I’ve resurrected some speaker cables I originally purchased back in 1995. One of my very first Internet audio buys from a long defunct company named WWWires. Pretty sure it was a one man operation and he was based out of Manhattan. Each pos and neg leg consisting of Teflon encased 3N solid core silver. One end terminated with Cardas silver spades and the other stripped wire in WBT-0610 bananas.
Last time I had them hooked up was probably 15 years ago so it’s gonna take a little while for them to settle in I think. With about half a day of playing time they sound satisfactory.
I was beginning to wonder if I hallucinated or confabulated him and the company because you are the first person I’ve come across in 30 years who’s heard of him! Thank you!
I could be convinced to buy both the Amalfi and the Burmester. I completely lost track of time sitting there listening. I walked out of the store thinking “now that’s toe tapping”.
I forgot the nice part of the demo, they have a dCS Rossini Apex and Master clock. Other than the speakers and cables, very close to what I could end up with.
I decided to humor myself by actually trying the courtesy 20amp power cable that came with the PowerZone. That power cable lasted 1.5 songs before powering the system down and removing it from the system. I already know that Dream 2020 sounded better than Dragon HP, but Dragon HP sounds much better than courtesy cables.
