Your Next Upgrade? (Part 3)

Not available yet. They’re finalizing the 10” version of the arm (which is used in far greater numbers), and the gimbal versions of each. Not sure when they’ll be on the site for purchase. Not sure what the price will be. They don’t tell me that sort of stuff. The impression I get is the unipivot should start showing up before the end of the year. I’m still hoping to get a gimbal prototype to compare to this one, but I’ll probably have just a limited time to do so as I’d have to get this one back to them.

I am curious as to what improvements, if any, the gimbal brings to the table.

  1. It stops that eerie side to side motion.
  2. It costs additional money.

Mine settles in quickly with no wobble, but the point is not lost on me.

My philosophy of staying off the bleeding edge (when possible) seems to work for me. So knowing that the new Muon 2 will never be in my affordability range, I grabbed a gently used Muon Pro complete with the 1.5M cable a few weeks ago at a great price (and no tariffs!). No surprise the seller was moving up to the Muon 2. After cooking it for a couple of weeks, then comparing it to what I had in place previously (not an Omega X, I’m afraid), and briefly trying it bass ackwards, I’m pleased to report that the Muon Pro in its intended orientation has made a small but satisfying improvement to my network chain. I figure spending a tiny fraction of a Muon 2 price to get probably 80-85% (maybe even 90%?) of what that might get me is a good move, for me at least.

I did the same Tony. Its now connected to my Mac Mini for BACCH. Nice addition.

Moved my chair 4 ft closer to the speakers.
Cost: $0.00
Improvement: 8.8%
Chances of eye rolling disapproval when my Desert Flower gets home: 100%

Hey, I moved my chair back by about 4” maybe a month ago! Now there’s no chance any of my heftier audiophile buds will be able to sit right behind the main spot! :joy:

Bluetti

avoid power surge

I would have rounded that to 20%

Maybe 9. But definitely not 20.

One of my favorite lines…

Next upgrade around here is replacing my Roon Nucleus+ with a Synergistic Quark Server/Streamer running Roon Core into my BACCH-SP adio as the Roon Endpoint…

After 4 months of waiting, the last month it being held for god only knows by US Customs, my upgraded Linn Radikal arrived, upgraded with the new power supply.
Although I heard it demoed side by side with my Radikal 2 at the dealer and liked it well enough to place the order, now that it’s here and working, I’m happy and confused at how it could do what it does do to the sound.
Yes, that was a long sentence but I’m flumoxed. It’s just a power supply. So I asked Chatgpt. All that Chat chatted makes sense to me:

  1. sustained-note stability
  2. piano pitch
  3. bass timing
  4. rhythmic flow
  5. quieter backgrounds
  6. greater ease and relaxation
  7. more stable spatial images
And I will add that horns and cymbal hits are satisfyingly more lifelike.
    Worth the money.

Pfft! Could have gotten all that with an Avenger Direct! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Seriously, though, congrats my friend. A time honored classic brought to its height! :clinking_glasses:

Piano pitch and sustain is difficult for an audio system. I appreciate any improvement in this regard.

Neat

Already had it. Now there’s more. More wine! More everything!
I love it when I feel enthusiastically that I got my money’s worth.

I didn’t know you had an AD!

ADD! But I can—what was I saying?

Just stay in this heaven as long as you possibly can!
